Belt Squeaking

I have 99 Eclipse n/a and everytime I start my car or go for a drive and I stop my car at a stop light and the car idles it still makes a squeaking sound what could the problem be.

Possibly that your alternator belt is glazed or it has stretched over time. When was the last time it got changed? If not to long ago try retightening the belt a bit and see what happens.

It has been over 35000 miles since the last change of my belt .

What is the best way to make sure that the belt is bad

Look closely and see if it is glazed or if there is any cracks on it, but since u mentioned the last change was 35k miles ago. I doubt it will be bad by then, but you never know. Go ahead and check it out.

My belt sort of have this silver sparkle all over it is that bad.
