Well, Awhile ago I wasen't really even going fast, But shifted alittle aggressive into 2nd gear. When I let the clutch out, Hell broke loose. It sounded basically what a card in bicycle spokes would sound like "CLICKCLIKCLIKCLICKLKCLIK"..
Now, This would only make the sound in second gear, And you can hear it but not as loud, In neutral. If I were to keep the car in neutral, And rub the shifter against like i'm going to put it in second, You can hear the noise but not bad either..

We pulled the tranny and found the springs on the clutch were all shitty, And piece of the metal next to the one spring was snapped off etc. I put in a new 2100 disc and fidenza flywheel. We finally got the tranny back in tonite, But as soon as I went to put it in second, The noise was still there! I mean, It shifts very smooth, And goes in 2nd gear no problem... It's just when I let the clutch out, And give it gas.. You can hear the noise, Which is VERY LOUD.

Just wondering if anyone has opinions on what this could be.. I guess it is something inside the tranny? I'm just trying to see how much this is going to cost me for parts this time, And what my options are going to be. Any suggestions would be great,

It just really sucks because the car has been down for about a month now, And I finally got it back together and i'm in the same position I started in!

Thanks alot.:)

I was having a similiar noise in mine (drove and shifted fine) for about a month until I finally blew my center differential apart. Now I broke my center diff launching it, so the noise could possiblly not have a thing to do with the center diff. Hopefully someone can chime in and give you some better ideas.

Chipped a tooth on 2nd gear or it's mating gear on the input shaft. Stop driving it as you might send the broken parts through some other part of the transmission. You'll at least need a new 2nd gear or input shaft (possibly both).

Is there a link or any specific sites where I could get these parts from, If that is what the problem actually were? I'm just trying to see how much i'm going to be looking at spending this time. It just sucks because I just put the tranny back in, And now it's coming right back out. Thanks for the help on what you think it may be though :)

Well I'd either go to Shep and have it rebuilt or learn caps to figure out the part numbers. Some of the guys at First Team Mitsubishi (a discount vendor) can look up the parts for you and order them. If you don't know the ins and outs of the transmission I'd leave it to Shep though.

just thought I would post this:

seems related to me

I know. I've been a member of NABR for about 6 years now and only have half the post there as you do here. I've been inside a lot of dsm transmissions and rebuilt quite a few. I'm almost 100% positive it's a chipped tooth on one of the gears. Ask Shep he'll probably tell you the same.

Trust me my 2.4L with a 2600/clutchnet sprung 6 puck has taken it's fare share of transmission parts (just on pump gas). I'll only go for a clutch that can be slipped nice from now on.
