Balance Shaft Question.

Ok, my ? quick and simple, I now have 2 dsm's, a 94 Talon TSI AWD, and 96 Eclipe/

Talon runs perfect, the 96 threw the timing belt because the tension froze and the guy I bought it from didnt' want to fix it. Anyway, I was wondering the balance shaft can be be removed with the engine still in the car, and if so how would change the bearings to block the oil holes

the balance shaft can be removed while the motor is in the car. you have to take off the oil pump and install a stubby shaft( avalible through SBR) as for turnig the bearings i can not tell you hoe to do that. but im sure it can be done i have seen others do it before

Ive removed the balance shafts on a 1G Eclipse with the motor in and it was pretty difficult to me. The problem was getting the front shaft out. When you pull it out it hits the frame. So I had to unbolt the front subframe (I guess thats what you call it) to lower the engine just enough to slide it out. You can use the front shaft to knock both bearings out and to knock both in.

& on this subject if you are leaving Motor IN Car there's nothing wrong whatsoever with leaving Front Balance Shaft IN Motor.
