balance shaft issue

well i took of the head of my & bolt engine, water pump and got all my belts off. after taking off the belt to the front balance shaft i could move the gear back and forth real easy. so i took off the front cover and the inner lip where the balance shaft is in the front cover had cracked apart, and the bearing inside the block was worn away in one section. getting the balance shaft out of the block was very hard like it was almost ready to seize itself inside.. and also the sides lip of my thrust bearing both came off and was sitting in the oi pan...could someone tell me if they have a idea of what could have made this happen. and if i have to replace the crankshaft will i be ok using a oem crankshaft or its better to go with a forged crankshaft...on a budget to just get this back together an running....any help would be greatly appreciated

Oem should be fine stock car leave it as is and just get a stock crank if you need to.

well the car has alot of mods on it but no mods in the engine. i also had someone tell me if i keep the stock crakshaft this problem would continue but if i installed a oem crankshaft i would use acl race bearing when i install it. an also instal a bse kit while im at it

What does a spun balance shaft bearing have to do with your crankshaft? Did you spin a crank bearing also? I had the exact same thing happen to my balance shaft at 90K. Don't know why it happend, but a BSE was all I had to do.

Be shore you mic the crank and look at the oil pump when u spin any bearings. The chunks get sucked through the the oil pump.
