Balance shaft eliminator question.

Read this.

There are a couple of reasons why not to deliberately remove the balance shaft belt.
1. There is a small chance of loss of oil pressure. I figure this at around 5%.
2. The balance shafts are there to compensate for vertical vibration. Eliminating one reduces the vertical compensation and adds some horizontal shaking.

Just get the cheap kit from RRE or Buscher ( can't remember who has it ). It comes with teh mirage oil pump drive to eliminate teh rear BS, and on the front one you can either leave it in for oil pressure, or turn the bearings so they block the oil passages like suggested to maintane pressure.

Are you reffering to him removing the BELT alone, or properly doing the balance shaft elimnator procedure including stub shaft and balance shaft bearing re-install. Because if you are speaking about the latter, you would be wrong. When properly removing the shafts, the bearings will be installed 180degrees out in order to block off the existing oil feeds for the bearings, which would RAISE oil pressure, not drop it. This would be a GOOD thing in some cases. But I'm sure you are probably speaking of his question to remove the belt alone.

Second, balance shafts are for ####ies and grandmas, if you are worried about vibration, a site for DSM modification is the wrong place for you to be, and Get Health, Beauty, Recipes, Money, Decorating and Relationship Advice on Oprah.com. and Recipes, Cooking Tips, Home Decorating Ideas, Crafts, Gardening, Food and Dessert Recipes, and Entertaining from Martha Stewart would be better choices.

Read about porting the oil bypass valve if you decide to do a BS elimination. It might save some work later on.
