So we were doing some work on my car and the balance shaft belt had no teeths, so we cut the belt and left it without the belt. the car now ismaking a loud knock/grind noise, it sounds like crankwalk but im not too sure cus ive never experienced crankwalk b4. Ive steped on the car and it has striped my ac belt 2 times aswell. When I press down on the clutch the noises go away as soon as I let go of the clutch the noise is back. Any help will be really really usefull b4 I decide to look deeper in the engine.

Really there isn't a reason for the balance shaft belt to be stripped of its teeth unless the front balance shaft seized. You can check that pretty easily by giving the front balance shaft sprocket a turn. Anyhow, running without the belt you have greatly upset the engine's dynamic balancing which is maintained by the two balance shafts spinning opposite of each other. It is generally considered a very bad idea to cut the belt. Anyway you look at it, you'll have to tear into it.

Although I doubt it is crankwalk, it will be very easy to conclude with the pan off: You do not want to spend part of your weekend doing this!

Crankshaft Endplay: mm (in)
Standard is 0.05-0.18 (.0020-.0070)
Limit is 0.25 (.0098)

Keep beating me to them. Geeze.

Just to add to it, though there is no point, it was obviously a bad idea to cut a belt located near your Timing belt and just assume that it was alright to run the car like this. In fact, how did you conclude that it was 'crank walk' and not wonder if what you did is what caused the issue? It's time to go about changing the case, might as well go ahead and do a full timing job, and also perform a balance shaft elimination to terminate the possibility of this ever happening again.

Also, for the sake of that DSM, please do a little research before you just 'cut' a belt.

Well reason belt was cut was cus it had no teeth and a couple of frinds have ran w.o tht belt with no issue b4 but there balance shaft wasnt siezed mines looks like it is. Si I guess ill go ahead and do a balance shaft removal, should I still check for crankwalk?

Eh, you likely don't have it. Crankwalk isn't as common as people make it out to be. Honestly. If you're bothered by the idea that you might be experiencing some Crank Walk issues, go ahead and check for it. It'll be one more thing to check off of your list.

If you get a chance to take your tb off spin it by hand to make sure its not seized. maybe it just needs the timing marks on it relined

You've got to be kidding me.

Warning #1- clean up the "cus" and "b4" in your posts before myself or another Moderator has to or you will likely receive an infraction.

When I press down on the clutch the noises go away as soon as I let go of the clutch the noise is back.
So if you disconnect the trans from the engine via clutch engagement, the noise stops.

- Clutch throwout bearing?
- Trans input shaft bearing?
