Balance shaft removal help

Does anybody know some trick I could do to get this phillips bolt off??? I almost stripped it cause it's on so tight, but its still fine. I just don't know what to do because it won't budge and I'm afraid if I try again it'll strip it completely.

lube it with wd 40 overnight, use some valve grind compound on the head of the screw and or use an impact phillips screwdriver like this. Google Images

I went out and tried again and it's stripped. Guess I'm screwed now aren't I?

If it doesn't work; center punch it and easy out it.

or you could center punch the outer edge and hit it with a chisel

to strike the screw and create a hole

Its an inexpensive tool that will create a divot in the metal of the Philips head screw. So that a drill bit will stay in place easier. The key is to get it right in the middle of the Philips screw. Then you drill straight down the center of the screw.

Nevermind. So when you drill down will it turn the screw or will it eventually just pop out?

You only drill it out to get the easy out in there then the easy out does the work not the drill bit.

Tack weld a smaller bolt to the end of it You may not have a welder though. My 2 cents.

They come in different sizes. You can buy an Easyout kit.

Buy the impact reverse driver first. Most likely it'll do the trick. Besides it's a very usefull tool to have

You should replace the oil pump anyways! You got the engine apart, why do it twice.

Well I am being rushed through this so I'm just getting things fixed that needs fixed, and avoiding the "if I had extra money" things. Unless its like a manditory thing to replace the oil pump...
