Balance shaft bearings

91 AWD TSI----Big problem, the tool I need to remove the balance shaft bearing has been discontinued. I have searched high and low. I need alternative tools ideas anything I can’t get the bearings out for the life of me. I made a tool but is very inefficient. This might not seem like an advanced tech question, but I wanted to ask guys who have been around DSMs the longest, perhaps maybe someone has bought the tool and no longer needs it and was willing to sell. Let me know I am really in a sink hole, please help….thanks

Get a long peice of threaded rod and a washer the exact same size as the bearing. Put the washer over the rod and jam it in place with a nut on each side. Position the washer perfectly over the bearing and use a hammer to pound on the rod until the bearing comes out. You can also use this tool to install new bearings.

Yup, take the front balance shaft, spin it round and use it to knock both bearings out. It takes umm...45 seconds and it's FREE.

To reinstall, rotate and position the bearing to block the oiling hole so that it lines up straight and gently tap it in with the same shaft. Doing the rear bearing is tricky but it can be done with patience.
