i just rebuilt my 7 bolt and everything is fine except im getting horrible vibrations after about 3000 rpms through all gears . wondering if my balance shaft being turned 180 degrees the wrong way could lead to the vibe problem.
 
its not the balance shaft.

its the oil pump sprocket. when u did the full rebuild i assume u redid the timing? the oil pump comes on every 3 turns, even though the timing notch may be alligned, theres a 1 in 3 chance its timed properly.

do u have a repair manual they go into this more in depth, but u have to stick a screwdriver into the hold on the block by the oil pump sprocket and if the tool goes in a certain length than its timed correctly. i cant recall the exact number i just refer to it when i redo my timing. Anyways if the tool doesnt go in the whole to the correct specified length, u have to spin the oil pump sprocket one turn and try again, if it still isnt alligned then u do one more full turn and allign the timing mark again and it will be correct, the tool should insert to the designated length.

I know its this because if the timing is off on it it will cause terrible vibrations in all gears at mid and high rpms. pick up a repair manual if u dont have one and check it out i'm almost certain thats ur problem.

Hm where to start...

You are aware that the oil pump sprocket spins the balance shaft? And I really think you are confused/mislead about the whole 3 turns thing. That makes no sense. When you are aligning the timing you have 1 shot to get the balance shaft in phase. It is either in or its out.

An easier way than messing with the hole and the screw driver is just to line the timing mark up on the oil sprocket and let it go. If the sprocket falls back (counterclockwise) it is in phase, if it falls forward (clockwise) it is out of phase and you need to spin it one full turn and line it back up.

the oil pump runs off the timing belt, not the balance shaft belt. the balance shaft runs off the balance shaft belt, behind the timing belt.

have u ever read a repair manual? i'm not just making this up it explains all this in it. when ur doing a TIMING BELT. i'm not talking about anything relating to the balance shafts, when ur doing a timing belt, u have to allign the oil pump with a timing mark on the block. even if the timing marks are alligned it doesnt mean the oil pump is in sync. You have to insert a tool and check the distance it goes in, thats the only way to tell.

symptoms of this problem are EXTREME VIBRATIONS AT MID RPM RANGE IN ALL GEARS.

dont argue with me just read the repair manual

There are two balance shafts. The upper/front one is driven off the B Belt, the lower/rear balance shaft is driven through the oil pump gears and the oil pump sprocket by the timing belt.

It's the balance shaft running off the oil pump that causes all the alignment problems since it's timing mark lines up once when the shaft is in phase and once when it's out of phase with the upper shaft.

I'm sorry i stand corrected i wasnt aware that the oil pump sprocket had a balance shaft in it, i just thought it was for the oil pump.

Isnt the shaft in phase once and out of phase twice? correct me if i'm wrong again, but isnt it 3 turns? 2 alligns of the timing marks are out of phase and one of the timing marks is in phase.
