Bad luck on the first day HELP!!!

I went and bought a 91 Eagle Talon Tsi yesterday. Drive the car ride good nice clean had bad gas when i got there so it had a bit of a rough idle after it warmed up it cleared away though. Changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, new gas, injector cleaner. Started to run a little cleaner. I'm driving it back home from where i picked the car up i heard what sounded like a plastic bag under the car next thing i know the car was overheating, and the power steering went out. (What made the car over heat, and the power steering go all in one??) Now for the transmission (automatic) problem. When the car is first started up, and drove for about 40 mins the transmission shifts clean. then when it warms up it starts to down shift a gear then shift up then it will run fine for a min then youll feel a sputter in another 1-2 mins and it will do the same thing again(Yes OD was on, and i tryed turning it off, and on to see what would happen didnt matter ><). I'm more then lost on where to begin if someone could give me some help, or atleast point me in a decent direction i would appreciate it.

the over heating issue could be alot of stuff stuck thermostat , bad radiator cap , or at worst a bad head gasket or bad water pump , I had the same issue with a 93 i bought awhile ago it turned out to be a bad radiator cap As for the transmission try a fluid and filter change when u drain it look to see if there is alot of metal in the fluid>

Are you sure you didn't break a alternator belt?

It makes a loud sequel most of the time but not all the time my car has broken 3 in the last month.

It causes the car to over heat and the power steering to go out since it drives both!

Watch out because it can also to cause your water pump to fail if it really is your alternator seizing if that is what it is doing your car will sound horrible and whine like a newb playing COD6.

If you don't know what causes the seizing it is because the bearings in the alternator are VERY fine tuned and if they get a bit off balance it is a very critical failure that will cause them to totally seize over time or just for a split second.

I saw what smelt like antifreeze all over under the hood, and the raditor was dry, filled it up wasnt leaking any water still wanted to overheat, and the power steering was still gone in it

Check your belts. One may have snapped causing the pump and power steering to quit on you.

Got lots of information on the overheating, but what about the transmission thats still out of wake too

Do as suggested and replace the filter and tranny fluid.

Alternator belt was broke hit it right on the nose. Car idles like a champ changed the tranny oil, and filter, but now the car makes a medal rubbing sound when you first take off what is that noise all about doesnt sound to healthy
