Bad Compressor wheel??

Hi,

I recently bought an Evo3 16g that needed a rebuild. Every thing looked Ok, but when I opened it I founded that the compressor wheel had very small chips. The problem is I don't know is this will affect the spool. The exhaust wheel is in perfect condition. I haven't bought the rebuild kit because I don't know if its gonna work. Here are some pics:

Is the shaft play mainly up/down or in/out?

Honestly it doesn't look too bad in the photos. I've had customer turbos that had missing compressor fins (more than one!) and they still made boost fine....the customer didn't even know there was a problem until they pulled the turbo.

If you choose to replace the wheel, they run about $125-$135...so after you buy a parts kit you're still under $200 spent on parts.

Can't really tell with the pics but the compressor wheel looks like it rubbed and if so then it is not any good!
Also i can not really see but it looks like the bearing housing is cracked if so then you really have issuse!!
but if you could get some better pics or some side pics and get into some normal lighting it should be easier to tell!

Ahh I didn't see the chunk missing from the center housing the first time.

At this point, you should seriously consider a new Evo III 16G CHRA. They're around $400, but your turbo will be brand new.

Ouch, It's better if I just buy a new one or a 18g , and have this for parts. Thanks for the help.
