this is probably going to sound dumb. i have replaced all 4 motor mounts in my car in the last month. i haven't launched yet or and thing, but if i try to pull out kinda hard like from 3000rpms my front in hops violently and if i shift into second hard it sound like the motor is about to rip out. it started happening after i put my act 2600 6 puck in it, i don't know if it makes that big of a difference on this but it is unsprung disk if that matters. it literally sounds like its going to brake.scared to get on it.

You should launch it from 5k to 5.5k, 3k is way low for an awd, i dont think you are experiencing wheel hope.

Thats definetly not wheel hop.. ESPECIALLY at that low of an RPM range.

Wheel hop can happen for alot of reasons. Was this at the track? or on the street?

I hopped once due to a bad rear camber alignment at the track and I snapped a transfer case output shaft. Granted, I'm making 600+whp with a welded center diff, it never hops on the street, only at a sticky track.

Tires, alignment, and suspension can all cause wheel hop. I wouldnt necessarily blame the clutch. It did what it was supposed to do.....it grabbed. A good remedy for this, would be poly inserts, a good suspension, a proper alignment, and maybe practicing on slipping the clutch more. Sounds to me like you're dumping the clutch a bit.

I know it's a different base, but a buddy of mine has a GST and He would just go into boost or let out the clutch and it would do the same. Turned out a tie-rod was broke/bent. I've always launched my car at 5500 or 6k. I have the 2600 as well. Never had wheel hop. But check your suspension. See if you have any issues. Listen for noises as well.

it was on the street. i just got new tires put on it about 2 weeks ago the put in and the alignment rack and every thing was good on it for alignment. before i put my new clutch in it i could launch at 6k no problems. put the new clutch it started doing it the day i put it in. so i started replacing mounts. and it didnt change anything tom im pulling the trany back out to put a new throw out bearing in it,used the one the the act kit came with. its more like the motor rocking back and forth violently, every thing is tight though so i dont see how it could be rocking like that its like the front end jumps up and down like 3 or 4 inches.

and it is doing it while slipping the clutch.

Oh no. You shouldn't have said it was on the street. Now you are going to get condemned.

LOL no your not u8nder standing im talking about trying to pull out not launching my car. just like pulling out to like say pull out and get up to speed on a extremely busy hy. if i pull out a slight bit harder than daily driving it hops like that.

Sounds like something is broken, then. Make sure all those mounts are secured and installed properly. Put the car in 1st gear and push it, see if the engine wants to leap out of the engine bay.

man the 2600 is a grippy clutch. IMO thats all it is that your feeling. I have a 2600 in mine. When i first drove it(my 1st 2600 too) it felt like it was snatching the damn motor around. Thats all it is my friend, thats all it is:thumb:

Now that I think of it, you are using a 6 puck disc. It does tend to be pretty harsh at low rpms (clutch chatter) Launch the crap out of it at 5500 or whatever and see what happens.

yea its gonna snatch the hell out of him, no slippage at all. Bet you'll love it

well tomorrow i have to pull it out again for the throw out bearing.so ill go over everything when im pulling it out and see if i can find something that is broke. just pull the hood off of it to see if it wants to leap out of the engine bay? i know the ,motor makes a lot more torque but if you grab the motor and push and pull on it, it fills solid like it shouldn't do any where. the front motor mount when i replaced it the bolt didnt seam right that when threw the mount. the bracket on the motor that the mount attaches to the bolt fit perfect threw but going threw the mount it was like the bolt was a 1/4 inch to small. the bad mount that i took off of it the bolt fit the same way threw, but there was no signs of the mount smacking back and forth on the bolt so i don't know if it would make a difference if i drill the bracket on the motor out to hold a bigger bolt would help or not but it fills like the motor is going to jump threw the hood.

sorry rlacasse1 long day cars got me pissed didn't mean for that to sound bad like that.

i have clutch chatter sometimes but it fills like bad wheel hop does with out the wheels spining if that makes any since i might be able to get a videio of it tom it i can the front end jumps up and down a few inches when it does it.

I have experienced a sim. thing happening from time to time. I have had my talon 10 yrs. It is the carrier earing wobbeling around in the mount. I remember something about filling it with RTV silicone . I have not had much issue, so have not done that mod . See if the bearing is real loose, does the drive line have lots of up/down movement ? The rubber can get broken down. Tres...

I was going to suggest the bracket was loose on the back of the motor for the drivers side axle. Glad to see you found that mount tho.

How did you find out it was the ball joints?

I have a similar problem if I slip the clutch to get moving at the wrong rpm. The engine will buck pretty bad until the clutch fully grabs. But I'm guessing mine are bad motor mounts.

i went through the same thing when going from a street disc to a puck. you cant feather/slip a puck like a streetdics, you have to let it out faster the a street disc. i used to slip my clutch like a street bike with a street disc but with a puck you will break stuff due to wheel hop
