I have a question about my automatic transmission. It seems like once I get to a about 100 mph my car feels like it can do more but doesnt. Even driving up a hill, I will get going then half way up the car shifts up and stays there. I talked with a friend and he mentioned that the transmission has some kind of governor on it to control how fast the car can go. My question is, can I change this?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

I really havent paid attention to the rpms other than seeing it dropping down while shifting. I live in Germany where we have no speed limit autobahns. I have tried getting it to at least hit 110, no go. Would I have to change my ecu?

Chris

I dont want to lead you in the wrong direction due to not knowing to much about n/t ecus.
If they are anything like the turbo ecus, you can get it chipped since you have a 95 or go with a engine managent that allows control over the ecu.

I don't think an n/t can hit 120 stock, but could be wrong. You most definately have a speed limiter but 100 seems a bit harsh. Other cars I've owned with about the same hp as a RS/GS had limiters under 110 mph.

Yeah, being n/t is probably the biggest limiting factor. Most likely running out of ass up top at that speed.

You should be able to hit 110 at least... I would check into ecu tuning liek most of the others said. So I would check that out. Hell, My saturn hit 118... Legally of course...:shhh: ROFL

Perhaps the 100 is not mph, but rather km/h?

100 km/h would be around 62 mph or so... he thinks the car feels like it can go faster and 100mph limiter DOES seem a bit harsh. Perhaps that could suggest something is wrong?

i have a 98 gsx AT and my car feels real slugish between 105 to 120 and i cant pass 120 neways!!!i owned a 01 GS MT and i toped my car at 13? before i hit the rev limit!! could it be cause its AT?

Ok, I know this has been awhile since this was last posted and probably need to be moved, but how do I get the governer to stop working. I hate being passed by 1.6 golfs going up a hill. What is it that can be changed?
Thanks
Chris
