Hey guys I've searched and searched no one with the same problem as me.

I just got this car from a buddy for litterally $700 (he doesnt work on them and hasnt been able to drive it lately so it was a killer deal) He said he just had the transmission replaced recently as the other one crapped out, shifts are really firm almost like someone upped the line pressure.

But the problem I'm having is when it comes to a stop the car ALWAYS upshifts to second and is about to stall out. No matter what I do, if I put it in "L" it will shift to first idle normal then a second later it shifts to second and rpms drop to about 200, then as soon as I roll the car forward (useing the gas) it shifts down to first and takes off normaly, same thing as far as reverse goes it slams into reverse and rpms drop to 200-300 cause it to almost die.

I took out the TCU and manually shifted it and it still does the same thing.

So next paycheck I'm going to do a trans flush and if that doesnt work I may just replace the valve body.

Anyone else ever have an issue similar to this?? Any help much appreciated guys Thanks!!

Ok well i read online somewhere that if you were to unplug the tcu and the problem continued it was because either the tcu is bad or that when your friend changed the tranny it couldve been from another year eclipse. In that case the specific year of the new tranny he put in has to match the tcu of that year in order for the gear ratios to be the same. The tcu isn't suppose to be interchangeable for every year they all have different model numbers. Look at the chart below

TCU part #

Take it to a mechanic and have him plug his computer on it and ask him what codes come up. just to be more accurate.
Hope this helps
