My trans was toast by previous owner...replaced with new trans and now all I have is reverse. If I put it into drive, it will be hard to rev and it will bog down but doesnt move. It DID lurch forward just a tiny bit and that was it. When I put it into reverse, it reverses just fine.

L and 2 dont budge the car either....any ideas on what the issue could be? Have replaced TCU to no avail....could it be the torque converter possibly?

Sounds like you have the pulse generator plug swapped with one of the solenoid plugs. They use the same plug and will cause a similar problem if they are switched. What happens is that the transmission is trying to engage 2 forward gears at once.

I dont think any plugs are switched...there are 3 plugs running off of the trans and there are the connectors attached under the air filter. They are all different shapes, and they are plugged into their correct spots. Then there is a big rectangle plug that runs toward the back near the speedo cable...and a smaller plug that runs that same direction. 5 plugs total and they are all plugged in to their correct spots.

This is a 1G FWD so not sure if the 2g is different or something but all plugs are in their correct spots.

Think the torque converter could be causing this? Used the original converter....the clutch pack discs were all bare metal in my original tranny and the fluid was burnt and smelled....so wondering if the torque converter isnt working or??

I am specifically talking about a 1g transmission. There are 2 plugs on the transmission harness that are the same that can be switched. It is extremely easy to mess them up I worked at a transmission shop for a few years and it happened all the time that the r&r guys would get them switched. This isn't a converter problem, if the converter is bad than it wouldn't work in reverse either.

Can you tell me specifically which plugs? Because here is what I am seeing...

Right under the air filter are 3 plugs coming off of the car wiring harness, the plugs are:

-One Wire Circle Plug
-Four Wire Square Plug
-Three Wire Triangle Plug

Then the BIG rectangle plug from the neutral safety switch and also a smaller square plug with 3 wires and both of these run toward the back by the speedo cable.

So which wires am I getting mixed up?

EDIT: I swapped the plugs just to see what would happen and you were right, I had them swapped. BUT its odd because one plug has 4 wires and the other has 3 wires. And both connectors they go into each have the same, so youd think they go in the respective spots but they dont.

Rep points for you when i am able to give them. Thanks ay ton bro.

This issue actually wasnt my wiring being swapped. The REAL issue ended up being a bad torque converter. I had my wiring correct the first time around and for some reason when I swapped the wires, it was in limp mode (3rd gear). But the correct wiring setup, it ended up not moving...my torque converter was locked up.

It was a gamble I took using my old torque converter...shouldve known better. But if it was working fine before you did your motor swap, then i would make sure the wiring is in the correct spot

Still struggling to find these connectors that are the same....
