Auto DSM wins Import Face-Off Las Vegas 5/5/2013

1st place at IFO Vegas in the Forced Induction Sport class!!!

This is my third 1st place finish IN A ROW at IFO events (won last 2 in Tucson). Got some good footage this time

Quick rundown of the car:
'92 Eclipse GSX auto trans
2.0L 9.0 to 1 CR
FP3052 turbo @ 31psi
Sinister Speed 8" core 2 converter
Unported 1g head w/Ferrea valves
BC280's
JMF Drag w/AccuFab 75mm
E-85
Nitrous to spool and sprayed down the track in the semi finals and finals.
3100lb race weight
Super sleeper exhaust Can you hear my car?

Car made 420awhp/430tq (tq@4400rpms) on 27psi and no nitrous
455awhp/479!!!!tq on spray. Mustang dyno 100F weather in Tucson.

I woul have to guess the E85

I would think it is more than likely his smaller turbo and the torque converter. Most auto cars we have messed with the torque numbers are better than a similar manual transmission car.

This is an original A/T car I bought with a blown motor. I have had a couple 5-speed cars including my AWD '93 Mirage coupe that I was on PINKS All Out with Missing a shift on that show cost me a chance at $10,000, so now I roll auto.

The torque comes from the 57mm FP turbo combined with a killer torque converter. Mike at Sinister explained that right around stall speed torque converters can actually multiply torque by a little. I also have my exhaust cam at +2 degrees (less overlap = better low end). And I do my own tuning

3" pipe with a inexpensive, giant muffler from the local exhaust shop. Probably robbing power, oh well. Also have a resonator right after the downpipe. Not sure how much it effects the sound considering a 2.75" pipe would fit straight through the resonator.

I have always been under the impression nitrous was illegal unless they lifted that single power adder rule. It's badass nonetheless. I took 2nd at the MD event because I chocked on the launch in the finals. It's definitely a good time. Congrats.

Nice job! Great, solid built car you got there. I think the red civic you went up against is a guy I know named "Driver B" if it was, it's awesome to see him go down to a DSM.

Thanks everyone! And yeah, Cliff changed the rule from "1 power adder" to "1 out of manufacturer power adder type". Lucky for me! Makes staging WAY easier for me and especially on my trans temps! I don't feel like I'm cheating considering the car only made an extra 35hp on the dyno with it. And anyway, in FIS the exhaust is supposed to be quiet. I think I was the only car running a recirc'd wastegate.
