As the question states....around what HP level does the AWD system start to become overpowered and require drag radials on all 4's?

It depends not only on the tires but the driver and engine mounts. Stiff mounts will help keep traction and so will knowing how to launch. My friend went 10's without too much spinning because of his driving. Also, you want a little spin.
Don't forget shock's and springs That helps stiffen the launch.
id say get slicks when you can afford shep tranny. that much hook and power on a stock tranny will break. garenteed. tranny can handle the power when there is give thuogh the motor mounts down to the tires that break loose. add the super stiffy mounts and slicks, and i promise the tranny will laugh in your face. have the insurance policy of the number one tranny out there. shep. then get the slicks and give 'er hell.
