I'm not new to the game that's just to begin with, I've been a member for a while now, just sell and buy LOL, haven't needed any help till now, got a 7 bolt head and 7 bolt block, I'm putting arp's in tomorrow and I need to know how many lbs to torque them at? Doing 20-25 psi on a bullseye 57 trim if that helps

torque them from the center out in steps: (if you need the pattern let me know)

Hand tight

10 lbs

20lbs

40 lbs

60lbs

80lbs

Final spec of your choosing 80-90 usually.

Its overkill to have so many torque steps but I feel more confident its got a good seat. Then retorque the after a few heat cycles or approx 250-500 miles by loosening them INDIVIDUALLY 1/4 turn and re tightening to spec one at a time.

I'm 100% sure, worked on cars my whole life and just put in a set of ARP's about a month ago on my rebuild. the actual spec is like 15-45-60-80 but a few extra steps dont hurt nothing but the worry you can get when doing the head gasket and hoping its seated properly.

I respect your decision to wait fro more input, some people have different techniques too. You good on the torque pattern? its opposite corners after the middle two. If that makes sense at all

Torque specs come with the ARP studs. Mine are currently torqued at 90ft./lbs. Torque them down 3 time. 30 ft/lbs, 60ft/lbs, 90ft,lbs.

Edit: This is on a stock headgasket, btw.

I used the molylube, but haven't torques them down yet, the paper wasn't in the box, and I'm using a flatout 3 layer headgasket

The instructions didn't come with my ARP studs either.

I ended up doing the torque in three steps: 30 - 60 - 85

In the specified pattern, of course.

It's been running just fine for three weeks now :hellyeah:

The head gasket is not important. If you are using their molly lube the torque is 80 ft. lbs. If you are using 30 weight motor oil, the torque is 120 ft. lbs.
This is what the instructions for the APR headstuds say:
Step 1: Clean the threads in the block.
Step 2: Screw in Studs "HAND TIGHT ONLY"
Step 3: Install head.
Step 4: Torque to 80 ft. lbs with ARP molly lube (120 ft. lbs w/ 30 wt motor oil)
