Ok i am in the process of taking of a head thats on my motor, Well one of the head bolt nuts are starting to round off, since its a 12 point i was wondering how i can get it off.

now how would you use visegrips to take that off, its kinda tight?

I really dont want to take the cams out.

since its a 12 point its a little hard, and theres not much room there. Its either to big or to small. Any other ideas.?

what size is the allen wrench needed, i know they sell bolt outs at sears, what are the chances that will work. I want this head off..

He was talking about an allen wrench socket. It is a socket with the tip of an allen wrench on the end. It should work if you can fit it into place. I dont remember what size you need though. Just take some allen wrenches and see what one fits in then go buy the socket. Did you try to take it off with a 6 point socket?

well i think someone else tried to take it off with something else, and when i went to take it off it rounded it off

and also the allen wrench just spins, and i dont want to round that off either.

Go and get yourself some Nut twister sockets. They cut into and grip rounded off nuts so you can loosen them.
I'm not sure what brands you have over there but there should be something like it in any tool shop.
Google Nut Twister Sockets to see what I mean.

You can buy metal shim tape. If you get some of that stuff wrap it around the nut then tap the socket down on it. Makes a tight fit. Have to do that sometimes here at work.

The tape looks like reg. tape but its made out of aluminum. If you are really desprit you could try to bond the socket to the nut, ie: jb weld. But I wouldn't recommend that.

Try the allenwrench again, but go up a size and use a hammer or something to tap it down into the nut, might work, might not, just another option to try and help you figure it out.

thanks everyone, i think tomar i am gonna get a bolt out or something and see what happens, i hope it works

thank you everyone who helped me, i got it out. I used one of those bolt outs, but didnt work so i got a 15mm and hammered it down on the bolt, worked awesome. But it took the stud out with it. Its ok i wont be reuseing them anyway.

Thanks again vince...

Hey whats up guys Im in the middle of doing the head over and I got ARP Bolts for free .. but im not sure if there head bolts it says 207 - 5401 Mitsubishi 2.0 4 Cylinder 12PT MSK... and i opend the box and theres 10 bolts and washers and the bolts so are these for the 1GEN motor???

I don't know if arp makes head bolts or not. If they are head studs they would have studs, nuts, and washers.

if they came in a box, it should tell ya on them, but if they are used i wouldnt bother with them. But post some pics, that may help better.
