Hey hows it going... Ok here's the thing .. Ive posted before my story but real short the cars a 91GSX 5spd with a small 16G everything stock.. The car has 109,XXX miles on it.. Ok when I got the car ran slow idled up and down crazy.. so my first mod used 2G exhaust pulled the old manifold saw oil in the ports of the head took it off had the head cleaned and resurfaced.. Now I went in the motor to clean the oil off the tops of the pistons and found the valves mostly the intakes hit the pistons ..seems to me at least one time... maybe more I don't know But the intake hit more then the exhaust valves now.. I guess all my valve's are shot ??? right .. so I have to get new ones and get it re cut to fit the new valves but what about the rest of my valve train ??? rockers , springs, i got new seals. cause I new the old ones where shot.. Also whats the chances the guides are bent??? How should I go about this ???

If any of the valves came in contact with the pistons in most cases they will have to be replaced. Its more common for the intake valves to be damaged because they are larger in diameter. If the exhaust valves have no sign of contact they should be fine. The guides should be checked because bent valves with cause them to split. I recommend letting a reputable machine shop check everything.

why do you need to get them cut to fit new ones... they should go right in with no problem. everything else should be fine your lifters and rockers and springs are good.. and as far as your guides it is very hard to mess them up i have bent many valves in my life all the way to the point where they snapped in half so i doubt you messed anything up

I removed my head and all my exhaust valves show signs of contact (pistons also) but they don't leak when I fill the ports with water. Do I still need new valves? On the intake side, only two valves leak but they all show minor signs of contact. Replace all of those too?

Stock 6 bolt

See, those marks are even on new pistons.

It's an old car, I'm not surprised that you found oil in the ports. If anything, it's the valve seals, and not the valves themselves that are worn.

Cause every valve is not exactly the same so you grind each valve and seat to match

Ok thanks guys ..yea I know they come with the indents on the pistons its not a good pic but if you saw it up close you will see where they all hit i can tell cause the top of the piston is the coating got rubbed off when the valves hit them i wish I had a better cam or pics to show you guys .. Ok so bottom line is I have to get all new 16 valves witch is not bad I founs close to OEM for 90 bucks umm then I have to pay the shop to cut the seats and the new valves to fit and have them check the guides .. to make sure there still OK for me to use .. we'll thank u guys for everything looks like I gotta start saveing money and calling back the shop to bring my head in LOL.. thanks again. : )
