Are Hi-Z injectors worth the extra cost?

I'm looking into getting some FIC 1650 Hi-z injectors for Christmas so I can run my e85 t3 HX35 setup. However, I'm looking at close to $900 for a new set. Does anyone have experience on the difference between the hi and low-z injectors and if they are worth the added cost? Thanks for your help.

It's a toss up. I toiled over a similar question for a very long time just recently.

I've ran a dual rail staged setup since 2010. Just a pair of old school FIC/Delphi 750's. I'm at 100%idc right now and switching intakes to a Evo3 style and the dual rails wouldn't fit well. (Second rail to TPS interference.) I couldn't decide weather to go through the effort to make the dual rails fit, get the bosch type 2150's (FIC 2150, ID2000), get a set of Siemens 2200's, or just a single set of old school cng injectors. I ended up going through the effort to make the dual rail setup work. Here's my thought points:

1. My delphi 750's have been through hell and back. Several winters of sitting all winter with E85 in them. I've never pickled them or had them cleaned since I bought them used in 2010. They still flow within a couple percent of each other. Delphi style injectors are durable as hell, and available in 950's...

2. The bosch 2150's seem to have issues with rusting on Ethanol based fuels, I'm not going to take care of them so thats a big issue for me.

3. No 2000cc injector is going to idle as well as a 750. That's a fact.

4. My setup uses 2 stock FPRs, so I'd have more expense there.

5. A set of 950's is only $200, so it's a cheap upgrade for me.

6. I considered trying a set of the newer holley/accel/msd/racetronix/ect 1600s, as they are supposed to be pretty solid. but decided against it.

Anyway I know these are not directly related to hiz vs lowz, but it's an idea of all the things an injector choice can affect LOL. I don't know if the FIC1650's are like the ID1700's but they seem bad-ass. I wanted to go that route to play with some nitro some day, but I would still be well short on fuel flow, and the cost is very high.

If I were in your boat on a HX35 and looking for a budget choice I'd try the holly/accel/lucas 1200cc ones. http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.asp?ic=01D134x&eq=01D134x-4&Tp=

I don't think they are a direct fit, but should be able to be made to fit, and the small motor v8 guys love them.
