Are all radiators interchangeable?

I have a 98 GS Non-Turbo, I'm in need of a new radiator. My question is do I have to buy one specific to my car or will one for a GS-T or GSX fit? Yes, I did a search and I also checked the recommended threads and I didnt find an answer suited for my question. Thanks.

Well, yeah you can make anyone fit.........

But what you want is one for a Mitsu 420a non turbo. It has to do with mounting points, size and hose locations (as well as auto tranny line location).

Though many radiators now come with the proper fittings for auto or just plain 5sp. You will want to be sure, if you are auto, that you get a radiator that has the proper fittings.

Last year i replaced a freinds esi (420a talon) n the inlet and outlet where in different places. You " could" use a turbo model radiator. You just have to get those cut to fit hoses to make it work.

i tried doing the same thing with mine a couple years ago. and yeah the inlets and outlet are in different locations if you can find rad hoses to fit then it should work.

So before I go out and spend money I thought I would get some of your opinions. The thing is I need to know for sure that it's the radiator that needs replacing. When I'm stopped at a light and take off it sounds like there's a waterfall inside my car...the sound comes from the area under the dash. When I'm stopped and idling my temperature starts to climb but if I put it in neutral and give it a little bit of gas and hold the RPM steady at around 1200 the temp goes down. If I do nothing about it the temperature gets really high and it starts dumping coolant into the overflow tank and then the overflow tank gets full and starts dumping it on to the ground. I've replaced the thermostat but I still have the same problem. The reason why I was leaning towards the radiator was because I had the same problem before I did the engine swap on my car...I used the same radiator and now the problem seems to have carried over. So what should I do, flush the whole cooling system, replace the thermostat yet again, or just get a new radiator?

if your hearing the noise inside wouldn't it be the heatercore?
well it seems like something is restricting the flow of the coolant.

I've actually never had to deal with the heater core on any of my cars so I wouldn't know anything about them. The heater always worked great so can it still be the heater core? Clogged passage is what I was thinking of, does anybody know around how much they charge on average to do a flush?

You've just got bubbles in your coolant system. It's a real easy fix. Jack up the front of the car and fire it up with the radiator cap off. You'll want to make sure it's topped off with fluid when you start it. Hit the throttle a little to suck some coolant into the system, add to fill. Let it hit Normal Operating Temp and bubbles should start coming out of the rad. fill neck. Keep refilling the coolant until the bubbles stop. Drop the front end, put the cap back on and viola! Do this then post the results. I forgot to mention that this process can be messy...
