I have the PTE 6776 RS ball bearing turbo on my car that's a loaner but the owner of it was really unhappy because he had issues making over 22 psi.
thinking there may be an issue in the ball bearing section i had the idea of takingthe compressor wheel and ts04 cover and backing plate and mounting them to the T3 journbal bearing CHRA from my 57 trim (also using the small t31 turbine wheel) I know the turbo would then be restricted by the turbine but honestly i'm not looking for more than 500- 550 HP and since the owner is unahppy with the 6776 there's really nothing to loose
What i was wondering is if anyone has done something like this before? The only thing i can think that mighyt be different is the backing plate not being cut for a thrust bearing since BB turbos don't ahve them
this would be one hellof a hybrid IMO, so we'll see what happens, I've got the 6776 hung on the car now in it's BB CHRA and P trim turbine (mounted in a .63AR t3 housing) if i can get the pain down enough to finish assembling the car today we'll see what she does (due to pain it's taken me over 3 days to mount the head, and assemble the rest of what goes with it) i still have to hook up a DP, lengthen in IC pipe by an inch or 2 and then hook up the accessory belts and IC pipes.. sop close i can taste it
