I've recently started noticing some smoking out the exhaust. Only under certain circumstances though. While under boost, there's no smoke whatsoever. However, if I shift after hitting any boost, as soon as I give the car any more gas, I notice a puff of smoke out the exhaust. It does have a blue tint to it such as oil would, but it doesn't have the odor of oil.

I've been reading into oil feeds, and my motor does have the balance shafts removed, and is being fed from an external oil cooler that is being ran directly off of the oil filter housing. There are no in line restrictors or so forth to limit the oil pressure, and I'm wondering if this could be the cause of my problems.

Trouble is, the car won't smoke at all under boost of any kind, only after I let off and then give it gas immediately afterwards.

Any suggestions?

Mine was doing this from either the valve seals leaking or the turbo itself leaking oil. I don't know which was the problem because I fixed both of them. But the journal bearing turbo I know of are supposed to be fed from the filter housing without a restrictor, so I don't think that is your problem.

Sounds like bad valve seals to me. They will suck oil under vacuum, then turn it into smoke. So you will get the most oil when there's the most vacuum if this is the case you will get high vacuum between shfts if you let off the gas. You should smoke after long deceleration and some at idle if the valve seals are going out. Especially if it smokes for the first 30 seconds after startup from sitting over night, then goes away.

Well, as far as I've noticed I don't have smoking when I first start the car. Nor do I have any smoke while the cars temperature is below 100 degrees. Once it heats up, the smoking gets more and more persistant.

On a side note, I have noticed every once in a while, the car will spit and sputter like it has a bad miss, and then suddenly stop after a few seconds. Could these two issues be related?

I think the other guys nailed your COP setup as your misfiring.
