Anybody's TPS Ever Go Bad? If so...how did your car react? (IE symptoms)

Thanks.

eBay...my little way of sticking it to the man.

Mine has been bad since I got the car. It wasn't completely shot, but it kept spitting out false readings, giving my car idle surge. I just bought a new one - it's in the mail now.

You would really benefit from filling out your vehicle profile but if your think your car has a bad TPS and is mostly stock you can simply unplug it and it will run off a base setting and will run much better than with a bad one. Usually when a TPS goes bad it only goes bad in a certain area so you will only notice a bucking or misfire at a certain throttle percent as well. If you have a multimeter you can do a sweep test. Not the best but it will give you an idea. You should have .5V at idle and 4.9V at WOT.

Mine went bad and it was horrible. gave me bad idle surge. I was already planning to put in a 1G throttle body so someone on the classifieds hooked me up and thats what I did. He gave me a new TPS for my 2G since the 1G T.B requires you to use your 2G TPS and ISC. Now, I'm loving it. It was gone for about 4 months. before hand, about 6 months before it went I got a CEL that brought up the TPS and i got it cleared and ignored it. Then my car had crazy idle surges so I ASSUMED it was it.

Mine is disconnected and my car runs fine. I only use it for the SAFC. I'm sure I'd get better gas mileage with it hooked up though.

Well, you'd probably get slightly better gas mileage - but mainly, you'd get less hesitation and stumbling from quick throttle position changes.

It doesn't have any hesitation or bog. If it did I'm sure it would be masked by the turbo lag anyway.
