Like the title states, has anybody used the wiseco mls head gaskets, and are they any good, I've got to make a decision on what mls head gasket to run, I'm doing a 4g63t build, and I was gonna use a cometic mls along with the a1 h11s head studs. but I was just curious to see what everyone else's input is on the wiseco head gaskets.
thanks for any info guys and gals.

I did do a site search ,but I came up dry on the subject of wiseco mls head gaskets.
this question is rather newbie like in nature, so I put it in the newbie section. if the mods wish to move it feel free.

didnt realize stock could hold alot of pressure cause i was going to go with a mls headgasket but trying to find a decent one

Never knew they made one to be honest LOL. I stick with oem mistu or felpro for my headgaskets!

Yeah I just heard today about wiseco head gaskets myself, maperformance sells them I have not heard anything bad about them, but nothing good ether which means ether nobody has the guts to use one, or they are garbage... I guess when you got lots of money tied up in a build you don't want to risk trying something new.

even though my sane side is telling me hks, felpro, cometic for mls gaskerts it really is still tempting to try one of these gaskets out just to get an idea of what they can handle...

Brent Rau was making 40psi on a stock composite head gasket... of course his car is a well tuned example, but still good proof that sometimes you don't need to reinvent the wheel... or in our case the head gasket LOL.

Yup I put 240k on my 2g gst 15 years of me owning it and racing. 20psi boost at the track and 17-18 on the street and no issues at all. When my motor blew the stock headgasket was still 100% in tack LOL. I mean it looked fricked brand new at 240k and not a sign of leaking!!! I also switched in arp's 1 at a time years back again with no issues! Can't beat that, if your going mls make sure to have both head and deck surfaced perfectly flat. You could always use a prooven Mitsu mls or composite, but I'm sure the Wisco will work and hold up just no info to support that!

alright thanx for the great tip on stock HG now i dont have to spend 80 bucks on a mls gasket for it

well it depends if your making a ton of power or not, for a mostly street car you can get away with composite, but I feel that a dedicated track car should use an mls for the peace of mind your getting.
Another good point is, head studs become more of a liabillty at high boost numbers, so using arp's, arp L19, map A1 h11s, is more of a must at really high boost levels, and obviously everything else is gonna need to be selected with an eye on reliabillty and durabillity at higher boost.

I recall hearing a lot about the surface finish needed for the cometic mls hg to seal right, is this true particularity of them more so then say... the hks or felpro perma torque hg's?

I know metal is gonna be harder to seal [if at all] without surface prep then composite in general, but my question is more towards just whether or not one brand of head gasket is more better at sealing then another, without as much hassle as opposed to another... if that makes sense, thanks again for all the replys guys I value all your opinoins.

I've used a cosmetic Mls, on just a re decked head, and me just scraping away at the short block surface and it sealed fine with an fp black at 29#s and normal arp studs, but I probably just got lucky

I trap 130 at 30psi and have not had any head gasket issues with a $35 fel pro composite. If I recall correctly paul volk made over 600whp on a composite, and JP in Cleveland made 708whp on a composite gasket.

Composites can handle a lot if your tune is good.
