All my UTI graduate friends were tellin me with good cleanin and just checking straightness with straightedge there is almost no reason to deck the head and no reason to deck the block typically. So We put it to the test two of us were within .004 and we just used brake cleaner, 1000 grit, and razor blades. The third got his head decked and then did the same. Now we all have over 5k miles no issues. So if you have personally done a MLS headgasket swap, let your results be put on record.
 
The blocked was virtually flawless from the machine shop so I just barely lapped it with 800 grit. I went over the head with 400 then 800 grit using a piece of 1"x3" steel flat bar 8" long. The SOB was perfect when I was done. I only sprayed one pass of copper on both sides of the HG and let it dry overnight before I installed it. Just as a precaution, but not excessive by any stretch. I retorqued my head studs after 5-6 heat cycles. 900 miles with no issues. Mitsu MLS HG.
 
It would be nice to see an end to the "what HG do i use" subject, But its probably never going to happen. To Sum it up for Yet Another HG thread.....

Just make sure that your head and block deck are both in good order and it should hold up to about 30Psi just fine, All that need be said about that.
 
Yea i agree, but everyday i see a new thread about cometic headgaskets, and newbs searching are forced to search through a 100 threads about it to make their choice on copper spray and decking. Not to mention half of them are hearsay. So i figured it would be nice to have one thread to see who has done what and whats worked.
