Ask Me, Virginia
In the middle of putting my car together after clutch replacement. The tranny is up too. I found this on the ground towards the middle of the car....a little bit more towards the driver's side.

It is wet inside and torn. It seems to smell of ATF (I use ATF4 in my PS Pump) I hope it is nothing to worry about.

Come to think of it, I put a flashlight to it and don't see any fluid in it. It's hard for me to smell, I have suffered from chronic sinusitis for a long time. :coy:

It is smaller than the rubber radiator supports too.

Thanks.

It either goes in one of the holes on the trans or the t-case. It's essentially a tiny breather port and that piece keeps dust and crap from getting in there. There's probably a technical term for it, but thats what it is. For the record mine has been out for a long time, I don't do a whole lot of dirt road driving though so I would stick it back in there. Someone can probably post a pic of where it goes on either one.

It's a plug or vent that goes on top of your transmission. If you look there will be a little hole, right above the differential in the transmission or where your axles pop in at. Mine fell off too when I replaced my clutch. You can see it in this picture towards the bottom.

Thanks everyone....the camera doesn't take great pics anymore even though the resolution isn't awful.

Do I need to get i back on? It is torn and I am not sure whether or not it will go back on. Can I get a replacement if it is necessary?

I don't do very much dirt driving either.

All they do is push in you can do it with the car together. They should be installed it allows churned up air / tranny fluid a place for pressure to escape. Without it you have a hole on your tranny or tcase for crap to get inside it.
