damn we've got a pretty big dsm community in san diego, a lot bigger than i ever thought! :rocks:
we did a meet/cruise a few months back and the turn out was decent, meeting at fry's electronic's around one'ish and did a cruise to the chile's on sports arena and had a late lunch.
theres also a big park on coronado island just under the bridge that has a huge parking lot and ive never seen it full. if we wanted to do a drive we could go through coronado (from the park) and drive the strand to IB and eat somewhere? my .02 cents on another meet.
since racelegal was shut down for the night and its looking like the weather might clear up anyone meeting up tonight? alex and i are meeting up to do a parts exchange... if anyone needs any stock parts PM me and ill bring them with and get a price for you. IVE GOT A BUNCH.

maybe see a few of you tonight then?

:dsm:

I usually go to Mitsuwa on Friday nights w/ my best friend who rolls in a modded TDI. They have delicious food inside ;)

What's going on tonight though? Like I said, it would be cool to shoot the shit with some Mitsu guys.

Going on silver strand to North Island base or Coronado sounds cool. There are a lot of police in the area though.

Nito 15 yup another one canceled ha
But yea I would be down for a meet and the gst will be done tommorow only problem is the smog :/ I don't think my car passes and I don't have the stock parts

i got a cat with the 3inch planges on it........ only used for a week for smog. you could borrow it if you want.. possibly sell it to you if you REALLY WANT IT for good WTF. im getig my car redistered in oklahoma with military plates soon so i dont get hassled to much. there is some guy selling some 680cc injectors ($180) and a 16g ($200) on craigslist. i got his number if anyome is intrested. i think he said he was in el cajon

ok i have question for you guys my car is up and running
it had a blown head gasket and i sent the head to a machine shop and everything is running well but it smells like something burning is this normal?
and i know your not suppose to run the car at high rpm with it barely on how long should you wait?

yo if anyone is down with meeting up pm me or something...kinda new to the dsm scene...im up in oceanside willing to drive to san diego or la...

Vinny, anytime you want you can come up to San Clemente, I'm new to the scene as well. Maybe we can work on our cars or cruise whatever. PM me if you want

Hey George, it is normal to smell stuff for the first few miles/minutes of run time since all the oil residue gets burned off from mainly the exhaust manifold and exhuast. There is no set amount of break in period for a head rebuild, in fact most people just start going all out but you would want to get the oil flowing through the head to get absolute lubrication and run the gaskets through some heat cycles before boosting away to the redline (say about ~100 miles). Sure this can be argued but thats what i'd recommend. :thumb:

Hi all Im interested in joining you guys for a meet at as well! The coronado park is the perfect spot,it has a huge parking lot and its always empty.

cool thats what i thought about the smell. next question:D the car seems to get a little hot and the radiator fan takes a while for it to turn on but it does turn on. Is there any way to make it turn on manually or something?

Hehe, there are countless options for attacking the cooling system.
To name a few:
1. Install a lower temperature thermostat
2. Add a coolant additive [i.e. Redline Water Wetter]
3. Install an independent fan switch either auto designated temp. or manual
...a little more expensive
4. Install a larger, aluminum radiator
5. Install flex-a-lite fans

Personally, I've done 1&2 and I'm running much, much cooler... perhaps a little too chilly with our current SD weather LOL :p

I also noticed you attend SDSU too. I'm a third year student. You'll usually find me parked in PS4 [black VR-4] one level up from the bridge [level 5?].

if i install a lower temperature thermostat will that make a dramtic change?
tell me about today it was pouring. Yea im supposed to be a sophmore but i took a year off so im a freshmen:coy:PS4 is over there by west commons right? i park in PS6 on the other side of campus

Oh cool! At least I know there's somebody closer than I would've thought. I've been parking on the bottom level of PS6 for the previous 2 years hahah!

Anyway, case in point, I'm running a 170* thermostat compared to a 180* stock. Its effects are pretty apparent for me. Just in case you're curious and unaware, it will allow your coolant to circulate through the radiator sooner as opposed to later when it's slightly hotter. I've had tuning sessions at night where I'm constantly boosting on pulls[logging/adjusting] and will never go over 195*.

I highly recommend the coolant additive though. There are many proven tests comparing different ones available. I'm running ~10-15* cooler than before.

Thats actualy where i parked today because i get there like at 7am:| aight the coolant additive can be purchased anywhere right?autozone?

Yessir Autozone all the way! I've earned $40 back with their kickass rewards program!

For the record, I'm using Hy-Per Lube's Super Coolant + 50/50 coolant/antifreeze + water.

Wow, ive been gone for a few weeks, return to see some fresh faces.... very nice. Im glad new dsmers are coming out from the shadows...

Great to see you guys planning another little get together. Im always down to hit up the Races at Qualcomm, I saw the video for the Eastlake Meet, not a good place if you ask me. Every time i see the cars while putting in gas at the Chevron, there is always a cop joining them.

Im always down for a meet. Count me in, let me know.

By the way, what ended up happening with the ride Corey...

Today I drove the gst:)<br> one word wow first time driving a turbo car and I didn't want to stop driving. I was also thinking like if he had a meet we can go J street marina I don't see that many cops over there. What do you guys think?

J street marina sounds like a chill place too since I haven't seen cops around there much either. What day would work best for you guys to meet up? :D

Mmm pizza. Anyway, I just came back from the Euro meet @ Fusion cafe. My best friend, who is part of SoCalEuro, invited me over. I decided to stop by anyway to show him the Torco race fuel concentrate that I bought for our upcoming dyno day.

The Euro guys, I must admit, are more chill compared to your typical import dude [at least the VW owners]. They're more into having a nice, stylish car as opposed to arguing who has more mods, more power, this and that, etc. The Audi and BMW owners are a different story though. I didn't brag about or bring up my VR-4 until it was asked and observed hehe :D

So yeah, just throwing this out there. Wednesday nights if anyone is interested. :thumb:

What's this about dyno day? i wanna go take my car so i can see how much power it's putting:cool:

Ah, my friend invited me to an AWD/Quattro dyno day up in Fullerton this Saturday. It's a first come, first serve basis.

The 2WD dynos in SD are much less expensive. GTPro is charging $100 for 3 pulls w/ A/F readings.
