Im up for meeting this weekend Alex. Let me know what you have in mind.

I went to Auto Zone and nobody had a clue of what i was talking about when i asked for those little vacuum caps. Anyway probably go to Home Depot see if they have something.

I also need to find a way to recirc my BOV, anyone have a hose number, or name of a pretty flexible universal hose that would work.

Also going to see about making a catch can or maybe using that fuel filter idea, anyone used something like that before, the intercooler was crazy full of oil, lets try to prevent that from happening again!:thumb:

:dsm:

george1904: It's cool. It never hurts to invite :)

SD99GST: The vacuum caps should be located in the same section as the fuel filters. There are the single sizes and variety packages.

In regards to the oil catch can, I've tried the in-line fuel filter on my last DSM. For the VR-4, however, I made some NICE ones from Lowes.

They consist of Kobalt air compressor filters and adapters. I also removed the leaky relief valve that come at the bottom, bored it out, and made 1/4" plugs [again, from Lowes].

This might help a bit. When I went to Home Depot, the last ones were open....

Anyway, good luck!

so I need to Install a MBC.I have one that I got from eBay and a home made one which one should I use? And how do I install it, I seen the threads but kind of confused. I read that it's bad to tee the intake manifold and bov to the MBC then the MBC to the waetegate. So how should you do it and oh yea my J pipe doesn't have a nipple.

I used this how-to last year. You're basically replacing the BCS with your MBC.

I have blown piston rings so im looking to get my engine bored and rebuilt. Are there any good/reliable shops out here in SD?

so i might need help from one of you guys that have experience with dsm's. so if we have a meet one of you guys can check my car. i have a gs and i can take off from 1st gear pretty fast but the gst kind of lags i feel a big difference from both car and i dont think the gst is running 100% perfect. Maybe is because im not used to the clutch and also the clutch is harder to use.

Let's try to hookup sometime this week. What's the maintenance history looking like? i.e. ALL fluids. Is your HKS recirculated? What are your S-AFC's settings? Also, the FMIC will create some lag with the larger pipes + routing.

well fluids seem to be fine. And no my hks isn't recirculated I'm not sure how to do it. I don't know what my safc settings are set to I haven't moved anything from what the previous owner and since I'm barely learning how to use it I don't want to change anything. If you guys can help me that would be cool
:)

If you want to keep your HKS bov and use it correctly, I recommend getting this recirculation kit.

Since you don't have a wideband or datalogger, you can always do the "blue/white o2 wire mod" to your S-AFC. It will give you a general idea on how your air/fuel ratios are looking. The narrowband air/fuel gauge is utterly useless and will only and always be a light show spectacular.

If you had a 1G, I would offer to transfer my datalogger and help do a street tune heh.

What's the difference when you recirculate the bov?
What would i need to street tune it?or can a dyno shop do this?

Yikes...

Read this and this. You MUST recirculate with the stock MAF, otherwise you're hurting performance and just aiming for the sound. To reiterate, you're venting metered air that the ecu accomodates for with matching fuel. Metered air + fuel - vented air = greater [richer] ratio. Recirculating keeps everything in a closed system.

Here's a picture from RedTurboEclipse showing the HKS recirculated. I hope you don't mind bro!

Tuning your car is fun with proper monitoring and the correct adjustments. With the S-AFC, you supply more or less fuel by intercepting the airflow signal. There are many things to look for, such as pulled timing, knock counts, injector pulse/duty cycles. GENERALLY, you're tuning for that optimal air/fuel ratio.

Personally, I tune for 0.93v with my logger.

Haha, we need to rename this thread as "San Diego - General/Chatter"

recirculate your blow off valve because the extra air that is being vented isn't being accounted for in your car's ecu so it makes the car run rich for every time it blows off and messes up it's tune. With a datalogger on a 2g you can not see knock like in a 1g's but you can tune according to the fuel trims that have to be as close to zero as possible and the stability of timing. :thumb: i got a logger but just had to load the software again since i got a virus on my computer LOL if you want to log your car let me know since you live down the street . ROFL

ok so today I'm going to order the kit to recirculate my bov.
But yesterday I was driving the car and there is a loud whoosh sound(not the bov) it's in every gear once the car gets to about 3k rpm it starts and as I accelarate it gets louder and it's pretty loud I can hear over the exhaust. Once I shift to the next gear it stops and repeats again about 3k rpm and it does this in every gear. What do you guys think it can be?

is it your intake? ROFL dood hit me up if you are at home im down to check out your car :thumb:
