take out the two panels that go along side the shifter
the ecu is right under the radio
there are 3 screws keeping it in place
after you remove them disconnect the plugs .
its out. if you got big hands you will get cut
if you are not patient you will get cut
and last but not least it its a dsm you will get cut.

Not true, i think mine had like 4 screws, but one could have been to something else entirely... theres always those in the way

As far as being cut... OMG ITS TRUE, that sh*t hurt when i pulled mine out... if you need help later, depending on where you are located i could lend a hand

Hey thanks man, i live in Chula Vista....might be out of your way think. I think if i remember correctly you lived in North county

Oh so you think your special since you sport JDM huh, well guess what, at least my DSM runs... MUAHAHAHAHAHA

Anyways... gah i love my work since i dont do anything, but gah because im usually bored and stalking people on tuners

You guys crack me up. It takes 5 minutes to search for something or 10 minutes to type up a post, then you have to wait for who knows how long before someone can answer your question thats already been answered.
All you need to know is our website address (DSMtuners) and how to click on the yellow SEARCH drop down menu. Then type in "ECU Removal". Come on Joe! LOL

Its cheaper to have your ECU converted to EPROM by ECMLink and they do it right 10/10 times. The problem is your car is a '99 so they won't be able to convert yours to EPROM, you'll have to find a '95-'97.

Sorry man, I mean I knew my question had been asked before but I'm not all familiar with the website. Now I know, thanks for letting me know where to look.

So what's the best why to go about this for my car? Or should I search for this too..haha

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question too...all the advice helps.

I work on computer systems and servers all day man, problem solving is in my nature. I just need to be pointed in the right direction sometimes!

LOL, Coreys job as a moderator...

anyways, nah i live in Mission Valley area so Chula Vista isnt too far for me...

as far as the ECU is concerned, yeah i would only let ECMLink do it.... ive heard nothing but great things about them, as far as finding an EPROM or converting to EPROM, they say its the same thing... im going to do the conversion to EPROM later this year hopefully, not going to worry about trying to find an EPROM just to get it... anyways im done rambling like an old man, need to find my whiskey glass

best solution... find a deal on a ecu on the market place imo.... ends up being cheaper in the long run. personally I preferred this way of getting aside from forgetting to get the serial number off the ecu before i installed the ecu ( meaning i had to pull the ecu back out and get it after the car was running )

but aside from that im glad i got it second hand.

bah, i might need to start looking then, thats cheaper then what i was gonna spend for it

heh i got mine for 420 witha 30% off coupon from Ebay Motors >=)

grr... you suck gufi, you suck.... anyways... not sure what to do now.... maybe start looking into Clutch Replacement in the near future depending on the condition of my clutch... is going with the ACT 2600 and lightened flywheel going to cause more issues then fix?

Interesting, that SSX looks really nice, and paired with the Fidanza aluminum flywheel would be smooth

Just noticed these are AWD only sorry. No soup for you!

keep in mind that when you decide to go AWD your FWD setup will be of no use.
Your dumb. A clutch is a clutch is a muh-###n clutch dummy, its the flywheel that changes between 1g/2g/AWD/FWD. I think you're still high like you were this morning trying to find Kannon's house.

<---------------------- I built that.
