I removed my GM IAT from my TB elbow, and it was snug. When it finally came out, there were chunks of aluminum apparently seized the brass IAT sensor threads. I tried to wire wheel it off, no luck. Also, the bung is trashed.
I set it up new out of the box with the red locking sealant that comes with it already applied.
I ordered a new TB elbow, and GM IAT sensor with aluminum bung and I will try again...
Should I strip the lock-tite compound off first and apply anti seize to avoid this in the future? Would it not seal correctly (boost leak)? Would it back out over time?
Could I use teflon tape or paste to avoid this galling/seizing?
Anyone else have this problem?
