I took my car to Boosted performances a couple of weeks ago and they made it run, crushed the bov and made it so the bov is venting to the atmoshpere. He said that it is so dence here that it wont matter so it wont mess with the computer and trip a code or something. Is this true????

No matter what the car is going to run rich. Just recirculate or do it right(maf-t). It being dense may help with your car running like crap, but it still isn't right. Also I doubt they needed to crush your bov. But I guess I could be wrong on both accounts.

no venting is venting and unless you have the mods to do vent it properly switch it back, ASAP

proven member with 93 posts and asks if venting his car is ok? cmon

all cars run diffrent when venting right now im running a stock uncrushed bov with maft i had a crushed bov and i had it venting without the maft for awhile i didnt have a black cloud of somke behind me under boost so i left it venting untill i put the front mount on with maft. when i ran the maft with a crushed bov it surged like a bi*** so im running a uncrushed and it works 100x better. my advice get maft and a diffrent bov if you plan on running a lot of boost

iwannagofast89 Not really in this pos I had. The wastegate unplugged once so I could beat someone for some cash and maybe its the tires but it didn't hook at all ???

what does this have to do with .........

Ok- this is how it goes...

Your air is metered before the BOV.

Your injectors open based on this measurement.

If you let air out in between, the measurement is off.

The injectors have no way of knowing that you let some air out.

Secondly- the air being dense doesn't matter. The reason it doesn't matter is that the density of the air is taken into account by the computer (and for anyone who is ready to say it, not boost type density, but temp and altitude variation type density). So, the air may be dense, but its measured as such.

Please , return your BOV to stock, let it work like its supposed to.

Besides, everyone who hears you BOV valve is going to assume that you spent your money on some noise maker, not on actual performance parts. Save your time, money, and energy on actually making the car run better.

Recirculate your BOV, as stated by the fine gents above. High air density or crushing the BOV will not somehow prevent a vented BOV from mis-metering the air.

Talk of street racing is not tolerated on this board.

Removing the boost source from the wastegate on your stock vehicle will destroy the engine in a hurry.

who said anything about street racing I was at the track

Most cars act diffently when it comes to recirculating. When I bought my car it had a greddy bov and he was doing the atmosphere dump (he did only that and lowered the car:rolleyes:) and there were no noticable problems. At the time I didnt know much and went ahead and recirculated it anyway simply becasue when you rev the car you can just feal soo much air coming out of there, personally I would rather have that air back in my turbo not under my hood. Im now actually running the 1g bov uncrushed becasue my fmic piping was set up that way, personally I wouldnt put the greddy back on if I had a choice, im happy with the 1g.

Hook it up, laugh at your silly mechanic, go about your life.
