I did a blt on me and my buddies car the other week. His car read fine on the boost gauge, however, mine never showed at all.I believe he has a old autometer gauge, and I have a prosport gauge.

my car boots fine, however I can definately hear a high pitched whistle when the engine is cold(approaching normal operating temperature.)

Q1. what is on the timing belt side of the motor that would leak, as that is where the sound is coming from?
Q2. Is it just the type of gauge that I have , that makes it not read?

The brake booster is on that side.

+1. There is supposed to be a check valve in the hose from the back of the intake manifold to the brake booster.

And your boost gauge should read on a boost leak test, sounds like you're in for quite a performance surprise once you get your leak fixed.

Is your gauge mechanical or electrical? if its electrical it will not work unless the key is on. That's about the only thing I can think of that would make a boost gauge not function during a BLT.
