I decided to create a Ram Air design for my CAI. I basically manufactured a discrete vent ontop of the RT light cover. Here is what it looks like:

I just have to finish prepping it, and match the paint.

Once installed it will aid in forcing ambient outside air directly in the direction of the air filter (stock location).

Looks pretty good. Very sleek and much better looking than having a hole in the headlight IMO.

I'm not sure the scoop is even high enough to do anything.

Not trying to shoot your idea down or anything. Just what I remember it has to be atleast an inch or so high to have any effect!

Any hole should theoretically trap air so whether if its just a hole or a scoop it should work! Have you seen the holes on the nissan GTR's bonnet!!! Don't look big right?? but in fact that thing sucks out so much heat its unreal! As this will be at the front of the car it should have an effect granted bigger is better but it will still do a decent job even at idle. If you enclosed the filter tight then you will get more of a vacuum effect from the scoop and that will be better.

Thanks for the replies all. I am also fabricating a plate between my 2G MAS and intake pipe - desinged to block away heat from the engine.

I am also working on a wind diversion plate to force air through the radiator instead of underneath it - pics to follow on this cheap and easy mod with big potential.

Well good luck! Keep us up to date with your progress.

It looks nice man! And a lot more subtle then others I've seen...

Not bad, I wanna see it painted and on the car. Good job.

Here is a picture of it on the car....As you can tell the entire car is getting re-painted. We stripped the entire car of the door handles, moldings, mirrors, railings, bumpers, spoiler, etc.. Using PPG paint on the project, I figure do it right, do it once...hope to have it done by this coming Monday.

I know it's functional and everything..And I like it..But It almost looks like your motor won't let the pop up down all the way..LOL ..I thought that was funny and would share with you..

^^ Thanks....I trimmed the bracket behind the light assembly slightly for less restriction. The project was a compromise of aesthetics, functionality, and style - too high would akward, and too low not very functional. So in the end I compromised with what you see as the end result....I'll post pics once I have the car painted and put back together.

Here is the final product....came out better than expected:

Next I have to install it and do a couple of pulls with it on to see its effectiveness.
