Hey Whats everyone's alternator voltage in their 2g. Mine is like 12.9 to 13.2. I am thinking its starting to go , plus I keep hearing a squealing that's getting worse and worse. just curious on what the voltage should be normaly

That's slightly low, but probably topical for most if its the original alternator. What are you going off for the reading? Also is it original alternator and original location. The added heat from mods, bigger turbo and running it hard can do a number on voltage regulators. You should be seeing anywhere from 13.5-14ish volts coming out or the alternator I believe.

I don't think its oem , but it could be. It was on the car when I bought it 4 years ago. It also sat for 4 years and wasn't used. I just got done building the car and the voltage just seems low. My lights dim and my windows go up wicked slow and at night the car seems to run worse when the headlights kick on. I also think the low voltage and it being all over the place in messing with my injectors. Its in the stock location

Whenever I see any slightly low voltage like that, I just check for resistance in the ground wires and the wire from the alternator to the battery. I never noticed things getting weird until about 12-11 volts.

All factory grounds were cleaned up and new ground cables from battery to tranny, new ground cable from batter to fire wall. New ground wire from intake many to firewall. Added ground wire right off one of the OFH bolts to chassis , Add 3 new ground off battery all like 8 gauge wire. 1 to strut tower bolt. 2nd to one of ecu grounds and 3nd on top of the 99 cam sensor . No resistance from Alternator to battery.

^^^^ I was curious to what would moving it to another location do? Like the relocation bracket? Because before that I would read 13.5-14v in normal location, but am going with the relocation kit with my newest build.

It removes it from the direct heat of the tubro and manifold and downpipe, since your relocating it to where the a/c compressor used to be. I'm sure with stock setup or light modded cars its fine but the bigger the turbo and exhaust the closer its getting to the alternator and potentially killing it faster.

phooooooooeeee. Now that's what I like to hear LOL. Love me some grounds.

As stated in previous posts ^^^ 14.1 to 14.4 volts. I had the same problem with the squealing (gets everyone's attention) and no matter how often I tensioned the belt, it went away then started making noise again shortly afterward. The fix for this was to wire brush the hell out of the pulleys, fresh paint, and squealing problem went away.

I had all my pulleys sand blasted and powder coated black. No squealing problem. Just lack of Voltage. Going to put the Canada Version Alternator on. Its 90 amp instead of 75 amp.

Where are you getting this canada version BS? I was just up at napa and aske about an alternator and they only had 75amp (in canada) but on their website they have a 90amp but it's not oem.

Auto zone right down the road from has the Canada one. American version 75 and the Canada one 90 . They have both in stock and side by side they are 100% visually the same I guess the Canada version turbo eclipse's had more emissions items that required more amps.

Im guessing ebay alt's like this are all junk or has anyone tried one?

Don't do it! I bought one from them and it lasted a week. They sent me another and it died at the shootout costing me a possible win, $150 dollars, and a huge pain in the ass. That's two in one summer, and the stock one from Advance (that I took out) was still good. Now I have two lifetime alternators because stupid me didn't bring a spare to the shootout.

Thanks bro. Looks like a 90A galant would be a good choice for me. Hell, even stock might be ok. My sound system isnt too over the top
