2G alternator not charging after IC7 install

What do you need to get an alternator to charge without revving the car to 2500+ rpm? I have a haltech 1500 and a tucked wire harness with an IC-7 dash that had the alternator light deleted. I've read all it needs is a light bulb on the sense wire to simulate the alternator light and 12v on the 12v wire.

what wire do i need to wire to a lightbulb and does the other end of the lightbulb need to be wired to 12v or ground?

On the 2G factory system there are two paths for the initial bootstrap current. The Charge light and the Generator "relay", both include a diode to block reverse current back into the ignition.

Like shown here, one end of the bulb goes to the the ignition switch to get 12v and the other end via the diode to the alternator L terminal.
