Last year around this time I took my car to TurboTrix in Jersey to get my new aem ems tuned and see what she was made of. She pulled 299 after some tweaking and I wasnt disappointed, but I wasnt happy. I had only had the car for about 8 months and 5 of that was on jack stands.
I purchased my car from a good friend of mine who put a lot of time into making it run good, but still needed a lot of work done. I just got done moving around my FPR, getting rid of unessecary wires that he had lying around, installed a Magnus SMIM. had a friend weld my UICP. I was actually able to keep my battery is in the same location and its a Red Top. I noticed a lot of people had to buy a smaller one or just move it to the trunk. I was really fortunate enough to be able to keep it in the same location.
Im hoping to have it all back together by this weekend, I need to find a brake reservoir bracket, it never had one, it was just kinda sitting in the corner the whole time. And I still need to make a longer harness for the coil pack.
Ive been running a Big 16g with 750cc injectors, but I think those are too small and want to upgrade to at least a 1000cc.
There has been no work done internally other then cosmetic head gasket and arp studs. I have been running 12 and 22 psi but was wondering what you would think is a safe number that I can shoot up to. I have the 255lph, but i still need to rewire, Ill probably do that this weekend.
Ill post some pics tonight of the engine cleanup and my new/used smim. Just looking for some good feedback on what a safe boost would be. Im not a total noob, but Im no where near a wiseman yet. Thanks.

yea, the tune prob could have been a little better. but partly my fault to. i had a 1g TB on an unported 2g mani, so no help there. and my boost was too low. but it was 5 hour drive or so to where i went and i wanted to play it safe, cause i would have been stuck had something of gone wrong.

Even on E85 it's hard to max out 750's with a 16G, unless your fuel pump isn't doing its job. The power level you're at could be done with stock Evo injectors (560) on gas. Leave the injectors alone until you actually need bigger ones. You can spend the money on a useful upgrade instead if it's burning a hole in your pocket. I'd use the money for cams if I were you.

I wouldnt bother with springs/retainers for your setup. Especially for 16g and 272's if your money is tight. Slap in 272's straight up and run with it. I wouldnt do springs/retainers unless you got a SMIM and you're spinning to 9k ALL the time.

^^^ agreed. The 750s are def. big enough for a 16g. I was running about 23-24psi on a stock evoIII block /head last year on straight pump gas tuning with only a SAFC on 550's and no logger. Im very surprised it didnt blow up because I really knew nothing about tuning or much about DSM's for that matter, guess I got lucky.

I don't see a wideband in your modlist. Get one.

Then I would look into water/meth injection. I go to the dyno here in a week and I'm hoping for 340-350 on my S16G @27psi with water/meth. Without a wideband I would probably be very far off on my tune.

+1. There's no advantage to pulling much over around 7000 on almost any 16G setup anyways, so leave the springs alone. I shifted around 7 grand on my whole 2 passes down the 1/8 mile, but I'm going to try a few different shift RPMs this year. I didn't put different springs in my car, but I guess the previous owner could have -- I've pulled to 8500 a few times. Back when I had the stock cams, I hit 9700 on a miss-shift once, which pretty much told me there's a good chance it has different springs.

i do have a wideband. And i just installed a smim, bout to put some pics up actually. Looks awesome, i love it. Felt like forever cause i never really worked on it, but I finished it today and took it for a spin. The only problem im running into is my throttle is sticking for some reason and running me around 2400 rpms. I did a cruise control delete, but thats not it, im gonna have to mess with it more tomorrow.

This is a pic before the mess began. <a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b383/jcool2136/?action=view&current=car008.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b383/jcool2136/car008.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And this is the aftermath. Very dirty, but very running right now and I like that.

Next im gonna move the mbc and try and tap my J pipe. Get the VC, intake, and UIC pipes powder coated black. Since everyones saying not to get the springs and retatiners, i might be getting those cams a lot sooner then I thought. Then a set of street slicks for the front and its time for a tune and the track

<a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b383/jcool2136/?action=view&current=car034.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b383/jcool2136/car034.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I installed the black top last year, couldnt stand the beige one. Looks a lot cleaner. Gonna try and get the windows tinted this month to.
<a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b383/jcool2136/?action=view&current=car030.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b383/jcool2136/car030.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I wanna move the TT to the center console, and possibly put two of the gauges in the ac vents and just get rid of the voltmeter.
The bodykit is molded to the fenders, so thats a whole mess in its own so i guess im gonna have to leave that as it is till I get some extra cash for looks. Not too worried about it right now.

Hey Jrohner, thats all your mods in your profile and your pulling over 400? Pretty impressive if so. Im gonna try and get some BC 272s by the end of this month, because I really want to hit the track by May. Never been so something to look foward to. Once i get the cams, ill head to a local shop, get it all tuned right and see what the good or bad news is.

Yeah, I like by BC272's. More power everywhere with no loss of spool.

so no luck finding some used bc 272s lately. found some 288, but way too big for me. so if anybody has some 272's with low mileage on them, please pm, im very interested. looking to get some cams, and some engine mounts, then im ready to hit that dyno finally. id hate to waste a trip down there, would like to see some real results. next jobb will be a new turbo. the guy i bought the car from told me i should go with a t4 hybrid. not too experienced on turbos yet, but ill take his word till i hear otherwise.
