All the differences between the A/T GSX and the M/T GSX?

Just wanted to know all the differences between the A/T GSX and the M/T GSX, besides the given transmission difference.
 
On a 1g, the transfer cases are diff, rear ends are a different ratio, axles are 3mm longer BUT they are interchangeable, shift linkage, transmission of course, and you need a TCU. You also need a flex plate and converter versus a MT flywheel and clutch. You also need the proper bushing on a AT for the flex plate.

The driveshafts are the same on both.
 
For 2Gs, I believe the only difference is the transmissions themselves, driveline, fluid cooler, and a 90amp altenator (unless it's a canadian car).
 
I heard that the A/T GSX's came with a smaller turbo and smaller injectors compared to the M/T GSX. Does anyone know if that's true?

All 2g's have the same turbo/injectors

1g auto's have 390cc injectors (vs 450cc on the manual), crappier cams, 13g turbo, different motor mounts, a button in the center console, and a different ECU.

That little button on the top of the forum that says "S-E-A-R-C-H" will magically tell you all of this.

I gave in to saying that a long time ago. If I'm in a good mood I'll just answer. I figure these guys got what's coming to them anyway.... a mod will just flame them eventually:cool:

Can you tell me which end those has the diffrent axles? Front or rear?

I'm just about to finish up a a/t to m/t swap on my 91 TSI AWD myself and I didnt even think about front axles being diffrent. Infact I have a BRAND new set of unused a/t front axles. I guess I thought they were all the same.

Someone told me they are the same, someone else said they are not.

Anyone know for sure?

Front. only rear end different is in the gearing.

Whats diffrent about which one? Is the a/t one 3mm longer or shorter? Is the m/t one 3mm longer or shorter? Will a/t shafts work for a 5speed swap?

If it's really only a diffrence of 3mm, them I'm sure it would be fine as they are a moving part anyway.

Can anyone who has done this swap verify one way or the other please? I would think they would be interchangeable

Again, I'm doing the a/t to m/t swap.

I would assume the front springs are lighter on a m/t due to less weight correct? Although that would really be a non issue.
 
The bushing is in the end of the crank, not the flex plate. The bushing keeps the conveter centered with the crank.

The 13g is mated to a smaller exhaust manifold too and the a/t's come from the factory with about 1 lb less boost.

Don't forget the shock value when people learn that an AWD turbo A/T DSM even exists. Multiply shock value by 10x when you tell 'em it runs 13's or lower :)
