A/T or M/T for a GSX

Hey, I've read through some forums but have heard conflicting issues on the A/T or M/T. As of now I have a stock 1997 Auto GSX with a pretty new tranny, but come spring time I will be buying a totally rebuilt engine(mine has 106k on it now), turbo upgrade, most likely a FMIC, catback, etc. Now my question is should I stick with the A/T and just amp it up, or should I buy a rebuilt 5-speed?? Any comments and or info would be greatly apprecited.

I would probably stick with the automatic tranny. The admistrator from www.ohiodsms.com gots a 99 gsx and he runs like low 13's with just bolt-ons and brake boosing off the line. It's all about personal likeness though, I would love a 5-speed over an auto, but i have an auto tsi awd and I don't think it's so bad for now. I settled with what I had, that's all.

Stick with the auto and beef it up!

Autos are very consitent and they launch perfectly everytime, they will take away some power to the ground but you will make it up with a perfect launch and perfect shifts.

So, where the manual has the advantage for whp, the auto has the advantage where it always shifts like John Shepard.
