question: will a 95 GSX M/T work on a 97 GST A/T
it should right? the the splines that go to the tranfer case will just be exposed right?

reason i ask is today i opened up my auto 2G gst @ WOT:thumb: and then it started to rattle in my tranny at idle :beatentodeath: when i give it gas the noise gose away but when i idle it rattles relly loud like sumtin loose... checked fluids OK, got under the car and noise is coming from tranny 4 sure.reason i ask is ### i have a complete GSX swap off one of my 2g AWD's donors and i was just thinking if i have to open the tranny up then i might as well do the FWD A/t to M/T. Im not ready to do an AWD conversion i figure at least when im ready i'll have the M/T done:thumb:.

I'm doing a awd a/t to m/t I can only guess, if you don't have a tcase on there it will leak gear oil(or will it) unless you can put some kind of shield. The other thing is put the tcase on, seal the end where the driveshaft goes in temporarily, get a awd downpipe(incase there is a difference to clear tcase) and wala, but remember i'm guessing.

Are there any modifications done to your automatic transmission?

If your answer to this question is no:

Check your flex plate/converter bolts.

If your answer is yes:

If you have a TransLab shift kit, or an IPT manual valve upgrade, at idle, the manual valve will make a squirting (or grinding) noise because fluid is not above the valve. This is normal.

Just some ideas

im almost positive it wont leak oil ### the shaft w/ splines is lubed up inside the Tcase not in the bell housing and the only thing coming out from the tranny is that shaft.

i'll have to check the shield again MINI.....i can hear the noise coming from inside the tranny not out side i already got under it and checked it once.
thanks guys

any other opinions would be great!:thumb:

true true, but the space that the tcase leaves is big, i'm guessing there has to be a shield because the fwd tranny fits on the same 4g63 therefore it only makes sense that bell housing is the same dimensions as the awd drive. I saw 1/4 of my flywheel before I bolted up the tcase. Go ahead and check for the shield or custom make one, good luck bro.
