I haven't been worrying about this yet, since I've had more serious problems, but....

The first day I got my car, I had it parked outside the autoparts store, while i ran in and got a K&N. Now, when I first got the car, if I used the auto lock to lock the door (or it might have been if I pushed the auto lock after the door was already locked--I don't recall), and this was the case in this instance--the green security light came on, and I went in the store. To be perfectly honest, I didn't even think the car had any kind of alarm at all, thought it was just the standard issue light that says security, going for the .0001% chance that someone might believe it and not steal your car.

Well, long story short, my window was rolled slightly down, and not only was my factory key already a bit messed up, but I had a bunch of stuff in my hands, so I just reached in through the window and opened the lock from the inside.

Big mistake.

Horn starts going off, and I haven't the slightest idea how to turn off the alarm, so I'm relegated to sitting in the parking lot while this thing goes off for several minutes. It's possibly a freak accident, but I finally put the key in the driver side lock, and unlocked it, and the horn stopped.

However, since then, I can't get the security light back, and the little noise that reminds you if you've left your headlights on while your door is open no longer comes on either.

On the driver side sun-blocker whatchamacallit, there's 3 little buttons (one w/ an led) mounted, and I'm wondering if this thing has anything to do w/ it.

Is there possibly a fuse associated w/ this, or anything else I need to do to reset the alarm?

I don't care _THAT_ much about the alarm, but having the headlight warning would be nice...

Ok, well just a little while ago, the headlight buzzer worked on several occasions, so now I'm thinking it's the door jamb sensor, as far as the headlight buzzer goes.

Still a little puzzled about this alarm though, I'm thinking maybe I have to rearm it or something?

Either way, does anyone at least know what those buttons are for?

The buttons on the sun visor are the "Homelink" buttons... They are a garage door opener remote...
Now I just actually fixed the same problem you have today regarding the headlight alarm.
What I did was unscrewed the switch in the door, disconnected it, pulled it apart, and pulled out the littls spring inside the switch... I pulled the sprin apart (to give it more resistance) Reassembled it, and it works like a charm.
If this doesn't help, try swapping the driver side switch with the passanger side switch... Theres only one screw holding it in...
also... do your interior lights come on when you open the door? because the switch that activates the headlight alarm is the same one that turns on the interior lights....

Yeah, I had actually figured out that the buttons were the "homelink" a little while ago.

Yes, my interior lights come on, but this is what's confusing to me...

When I first got the car, the lights didn't come on, but the alarm and headlight buzzer worked. I figured out that the lights weren't coming on b/c the interior lights fuse was bad, so I replaced that (actually swapped it for the stereo one that I'm not using right now). After I replaced it, the interior lights started working, but the headlight buzzer wasn't working for a couple days.

Now the interior lights still come on, and the headlight buzzer has mysteriously started working again.

This still brings me back to the alarm though. Any ideas what might have happened there, or what I can look for? Is there something i have to do to rearm it or something?

Thanks for the replies.

yes, turn key off, make sure the turbo timer timer is off or finished and hit the lock switch with the door open...

or

lock doors with key,
the green light will come on and once it is off again the alarm is activated.

I found out after 4 years that mine was an alarm too... closed the decklid once and the horn honked, lights flashed etc...

The buzzer sound should be part of the taillights when ruened on. Try replacing the fuse for the taillights in the engine compartment. And check ## wiring for ## leadlights. and same fuse.
