I have a 1995 Eclipse. When you push the A/C button once it lights up amber, if you push it again it lights up green, and if you push it once more it turns off.

What is the difference between the amber light and the green light?

Thanks

Here ya go, right out of the old owner's manual.

ECO postion - amber
Use this position when the humidity is low. It is economical as the air conditioner compressor operates only when necessary.

A/C postion - green
Effective when the humidity is high or when it is very hot. The air conditioner compressor
operates for cooling.

Basically with it in the green mode, you will be blowing cold air until you get frost bite.

Amber mode will begin to blow cold air. It will then cycle the compressor on and off so the air coming out of the vents is not freezing like when it's Green. So if it's not a real hot day, this will be a better option as it will conserve energy(save gas) by cycling the compressor off every so often.

I was wondering that myself too. I have no owners manual.

Hey thanks for such a detailed reply. Makes perfect sense, on my domestic car it has a Max AC and then a regular AC.
