hey, this question doesn't really have anything to do with dsm but im stuck posting here for now.. My buddy wrecked his subaru and took out his gauges but left the sensors in the destroyed engine bay. Hes looking to sell them for cheap but my question is if i would just be able to find any sensor and hook it up.. they are mostly all the same right? There is an exhaust temp, oil pressure and boost sensors, or are they gauge/company specific? Like an exhaust temp gauge sensor from Autometer would be the same as one from say... one from AEM? thanks

You might get lucky and have only minimal errors in the gauge readings but there is no substitute for having the correct sensors to ensure accurate readings. Chances are you will see sugnificant errors especially at the extreme ranges where it is most important. If they are name brand gauges you should be able to order replacement sensors for each of the gauges.

Is there a reason you just do not buy the correct sensors for the mentioned gauges?
