AEM wideband question

what exactly does the AEM UEGO Wideband Kit do.

does it just read and tell you the AFR or is it able to tune things as well?

It's just a gauge and 02 sensor that reaches beyond the voltage of a stock O2 sensor. It does not tune. You have to have a bung welded somewhere on your exhaust for the extra O2 sensor.

if you think its "just a gauge" you prolly dont need it. the blinky one will suit you fine.
though pricey it will eventually pay for itself

you cant use it to tune but it is a GREAT to tune off of. Wideband are so accurate you can tell when you running rich or lean and adjust it if you have a S-AFC.

Exactly. I think our friend needs to read up on what wideband is before worrying about the specifics of any particular brand wideband system.

i just think that if you can't tune with it why would you spend over 500 on one. why not just get an S-AFC which you actually change things with. it seems like something that is more for looks than performance.

and what are you gonna base these changes on? are you just gonna ramdomly change the fuel curve not know what is going on in ur engine? only a moron would do this you need some kind of device to tell or show you what is going on in your engine bay like a pocketlogger, wideband o2, or a full standalone

if you seriously think that, then you dont need an s-afc or a wideband...
but if you insist, get yourself an afc, and "actually change things with it." I'd like to see how fast your n/t is when you get it tuned.

Looks over performance, I think you need to do a little reading so you know what you are talking about. If you take your car into a shop to get dyno tuned they will hook one of these up an tune with it. It gives you O2 readings so you can tune your car to optimal levels using something like a SAFC. Maybe you should do a search or look in the tuning forum because there is a huge thread on how valuable this is.

I was under the impression that the AFC gives you a o2 reading based on what your computer is reading. according to you guys that is not correct. what you guys could've done instead of getting mad is tell me what each of them do so I know that you know what you are talking about. Sigh. I advised you go look up what a wideband is thats all. Use the search function and you'll find a bunch.

You can pick up a nice wideband for $300-400, just not the AEM one.

Search this site and see what you come up with. $500 is a little much and you can find a wind band O2 for less, but I think you are missing how valuable of a tuning tool this is.

okay I am going to have the last word. I now realize that it would be a good tool for tuning and such, but it seems like a lot of money for just a gauge and yes it is baasically just a gauge. I wouldn't pay more than 200 for a quality gauge that has accurate readings for the safety of your engine. I only said 50 bucks because I realize that would be a stupid price. this subject is over and once again, there was plenty of opportunity to tell me the full benefits of this product before you bashed me on it.
