AEM wideband question

So i have been searching the forum for literally HOURS!! and as soon as i seem to find the answer i was looking for i scroll down and sure enough someone has put me right back into square 1 and i feel like a complete newb again. I think im to the point ive actually been racking my brain so long i am not comprehending anything im reading. I understand all builds and set-ups are different so im just looking for a general idea as to where to get a GOOD start.

I am running ECMLink and AEM wideband now my question is
1. do i need to weld a bung downstream or can i use my front 02 bung or can i use my rear 02 bung with a test pipe? which is more practical for a GOOD tune
2. if i want to log my AFR how do i go about doing so?
3. do i need a rear 02 sensor or can i just block off the bung and use just my wideband?
 
1. You can use either of the three, the closer to the turbo the less chance of exhaust leaks affecting idle/cruise tuning. However, if you run the sensor in the front O2 bung, you have to run narrowband simulation. I would suggest welding a bung into the downpipe before the flex section and leave the front O2 in place to control fuel trim. The factory O2 is very good at what it does and if something went wrong with the wideband, the car will still run fine.

2. You will wire in the wideband's 0-5v to a factory input (such as the rear O2 input) and then just select that input in Link. Your basically telling Link that this input is an AEM wideband, not a stock O2 sensor. Again, I would suggest running the wideband in a bung and wiring it to the rear O2 input while leaving the front O2 alone.

3. If you dont have emissions checks then you do not need a rear O2. It's purely an emissions check and Link will deal with the trouble code. But you do absolutely need a front O2 or at least narrowband simulation if you replace it with a wideband. If you don't chose to put the wideband in the rear O2, just leave the sensor in place to plug the hole. You will do all of your wiring right at the ECU anyways, so no need to mess with something if you don't need to.

And fair warning, the AEM UEGO is not very friendly with Link. in order to get an accurate reading from the gauge to the datalog, you'll need to try all of the different AEM settings in Link. Even then, your gauge will likely display a slightly different value than the datalog. The most accurate I have ever gotten it is within .1
 
While scrolling this thread...is there a certain angle to weld the bung. I have mine installe but no matter what I do I bottom the gauge at 10.0 wondering if maybe the fuel is heavier and it's reading just the fuel through my exhaust
 
If you are putting in your own bung try to have it as close to the top as possible. But that is just to keep residue from staying in the sensor. I don't think it would affect your reading. But 10.0 is very rich. Is that at idle?
What size injectors, do you have a AFPR?
 
No it's only at wide open. It bottoms out really quick but I can feather off the throttle and get readings

Does have bigger injectors. I have the for set 3psi above stock cause I am bigger turbo
 
450 injectors I believe. Haven't done any major tuning yet cause I'm trying to lean it out an see what I'm dealing with. And yes 3psi above stock fuel pressure

Walbro 255 fuel pump if that helps any
 
Well that is why you are running rich.
You are pumping too much fuel into your engine.

If you have the means I would go back to stock injectors and set your fuel pressure back to stock. Until you can tune for your injectors.
