Hi there, after I've done some research and ask around, I finally decided on CDI instead of Nology power core on a spark tech cop. Currently, I'm using waste spark. But eventually, I Might be upgrading to microtech LT10s running sequential ignition.

I've reckon that AEM being a Good choice. But, one of my friend told me that it's not durable.

Any experience are welcome to share. Thank you.

If you dont mind my asking? what is your reason for the ignition upgrade, and what is you build gonna look like, and what power are you going for?

The stock ignition system will hold a decent amount of power if your not going crazy. If performance is all you are looking for, there is no reason to upgrade ignition systems until it falls short.

On the other hand, AEM is a great EMS system and I dont know why anyone would say its not durable. As far as EMs systems go, AEM is one of the best for plug and play systems IMO

Thanks gsxboost19, currently I'm on 4G92 DOHC bolted on turbo. 4G92 is a small engine with 1597cc capacity. B X S = 81mm x 77.5mm. Manage to crank out 242.8WHP with emanage on dyno dynamics.

However, the low CR is kind of low. Resulting low suffering low end torque. At high rpm, it seems to misfire. Got myself a basic spark tech COP plug n play system. It seems to help on the misfiring issue. But somehow, I need to regap my spark plugs to 0.026". And this will cause short spark. Wanted to increase the spark length to burn the fuel better.

Reason for changing to COP is also due to the spark leak that I encounter with the faulty OEM coils that has aged. A new set is pretty expensive in my country. Calculating the cost to actually buy a set new OEM coil pack, it's cheaper to get a sparktech COP.

It also makes me feel that the idling is smoother. This could be caused of psychology.

Sorry for the unclear explanation. What I mean was the AEM CDI twin spark 4 channel which is not durable. Or it's the CDI that is naturally not durable.

You have one big problem already. Emanage may be great software for the basic street car, but they have a huge problem replicating the crankshaft position sensor signal. It is a very normal problem. It can cause spark knock, and misfires, especially with increasing RPM.

I am all for AEM software for almost any application. The main problem with COP 'plug-n-play' systems is dwell time. If you cannot change this, the coils could be damaged, they could not opperate optimally, and several other problems. I have not messes with COP setups at all because I have never had the need, but if AEM gives you the option to tune dwell timing on your ignition, then go for it, just be prepared for a long long LONG time tuning it. The hardware should be able to handle it, but if you are unsure, call the tech line. They can help a lot.
