adjusting timing??

the timing marks has a 10 then one make to the left and 2 to the right witch way is more timing and witch way is less?? sorry had to ask i just want to make sure....

The marks to the right of 10* are 5* and TDC and are less advance.
The marks to the left are 15* BTDC and 20* BTDC and more advanced.

You should be setting it to 5* BTDC with the connector ground as explained in the two VFAQs

ok one more question, on vfaq it says that after you get your timing set at 5* take out the ground wire and it should be around 8* well my timing is set at 5* with it ground and then after i remove the ground wire my timing is around 15* ??? I just want to know why it jumps so high

what is your car idleing at ?

that a tad on the high side - it may result in a higher base timing reading.
Can you get it down some?
