Is there any benefit to adjusting the timing on a 2G with stock cams? I am doing 120K timing belt service so I have the opportunity to put on adj. cam gears. Right now I have a 3" cat back, 255HF fuel pump, upper IC pipe & a 1G crushed BOV with a boost controller & running about 18psi of boost. Can I see an increase in HP by adjusting the timing at this point? Are there any dangers to doing so? I plan to finish the exhaust soon (3" down pipe & test pipe) and add a bigger turbo by the end of the season.

you cant just toss on cam gears and expect to get it right with your a$$-dyno.
There is advantage to adding some ignition timing advance (1g CAS)
The car has a little more omph - and lower EGTs. ( just dont over do it)

Yeah, I'm having a tuner do the work. I just want to be sure that 1) there will be a HP increase (not a waste of time & $$) and 2) that even when done properly, I won't be compromising engine life or reliability. What did you mean by "(1g CAS)"?

So do I have to install a 1G CAS with the cam gears to adjust timing on a 2G? Anyone with good explainations on the whole timing adjusting process on a 2G???
