I broke my experimental homebrew clutch  luckly I did'nt break anything else :thumb:. Maybe CAD and CNC would have helped instead of just winging it with calipers, mics, and a mill....

I still like some of the things I was trying to accomplish... Looking at exedys sprung full face organic twins made me realize they did it already and that they are expensive and not available in a 6 bolt....

I think the ACT 2900 with an organic disk will be going in now..

I am looking more for the input of someone with time on the max extreme ACT clutches who has posted here as of late... however owners of even 2100's and 2600's are encouraged to provide input.

It's a 6 bolt that wont see too much stop and go... Not a full trailer queen and not a commuter. Ok a commuter but for me that is 2 miles of 35mph sidestreet it's really a cruise and track car.. I don't street race.. I don't think the vast majority of those really good at building a car do. If your good at it the street is no place to tap too far into that thing. If you can combine show with go.. hey might as well be flossin.... just don't get stupid and pull 1.5's in front of the 7-11....

I'm running going to run a SSG flywheel with it. At a certain point you have enough power at launch to make mincemeat of an AWD trans if you launch stupid even with a light flywheel... So only rat race traffic driving will suck as compared to a bit heavier a flywheel.. I can live with that since I'll drive something else H2 soccer moms on ice are scary OMG ... Less time in traffic = less wear and less chance some moron will drill the car I actually care about.

I've got 40K on a 2600 in my 90 GSX. Daily driver. I put on 75 miles/day in heavy traffic. Occassional hard launch from a light when there is an idiot beside me. (But that only lasts 200ft or so until you realize that it was a total waste of gas to burn the kid in the civic. :thumb: )

Anyhow, you'll have to expand on what feedback you are looking for.

I'm looking more for experience of those with a 2900 or bigger really..

How they launch just right with no bog and no breakage..

I have a 2100 with a xact flywheel...I can say the car feels alot different with the flywheel. The 2100 holds power and the car pulls hard...I now realize how much my stock clutch slipped before it took a dump on me.

I have an ACT 2900 in my mildly built AWD. It came with the car that I've had for 30k or so. I hardly ever lauch b/c I'm afraid the entire drivetrain will explode! It's a daily driver but even hilly Seattle can't hurt it.

Something in my tranny broke last week on the way to work and I had to drive the last 4 mi in 3rd or 4th gear (dunno which, shifter no workie). The clutch wasn't hot or mushy when I got there.

Sorry no info on launches, but the bottom line: This clutch is awesome! Heavy effort, but excellent feel/holding power.

act 2900, street disc, act flywheel here for 10k with no problems. Pedal is pretty heavy and really shocks you how heavy it is first time you get in the car after the install and push it down. You get used to it fast and now i wouldnt trade it for anything else. It engauges smooth and is very drivable. I have launch the car excessivly maybe 1 or 2 a week for no apparent reason. I feather the clutch out with a delay box (dsmlink) and it makes for sudden lose of oxygen and vision through 1st. The clutch is still holding strong after probably 100 plus of these

A lot of people have had disengagement problems with them. My friend had one in his car this entire season and had nothing but problems with it. I had a 2600 in my car this season and had nothing but problems with it too, although I did manage to make it work enough to shift.

I heard that the pedal pressure is not suppose to be heavy, someone said that has less pressure than the 2600 due some new design.

With a act 2900PP and a stock full face mitsu disk the old motor and turbo setup in the car went 11.0@132 cutting 1.5 60's on street tires. I won't run anything but a full face disc.
